they seem really good for poker points but do many people play these profitably (to topup points) aswell as playing mtts ?

There has been a thread before where this was discussed. I know RSPCA and groggy play spins and MTTs.

From what I understand the swings are big but they can be played profitably.

RSPCA Said he makes profit from them but you have to play more than 7 tables i think he said. 7 or 11 cant remember now. But if you go to the top right of the forum you can use the search feature and type Spin up in there and there is lots of topics about Spin ups.

Spins are definitely profitable but very high variance. I think table selection is a massive factor in levels of profitability. Some tables play around 5 regs and 1 rec, who may not even be that bad. I think these tables are best avoided, as they are a small edge at best if not breakeven/slightly losing. The tables you really want are with people who are really looking to gamble, limp calling off stacks with really poor hands, etc, however these tables don't run often enough for my liking :)

There is only so much edge you can have at 10bb stacks, many of your decisions are very standard and you can find yourself down over 10 buy ins very quickly making perfect decisions, especially if you play hu. That being said, if you play with people who don't push fold well, who make mistakes preflop and postflop, especially deeper, there is long term money there, even if short term variance is high.

I'm not sure what stake level is the best, I know lower like 25/50p spins they are borderline unbeatable because of how high rake is. (i think they take 50p out of each £10 pot- its been a long time since I played there) £2/£4 spins might be the best level to play, as the rake isn't too bad in them and some of the best spin regs on the site don't go lower than £2.50/ £5 spins to play, so you can get some really good tables. Just to emphasise the level of variance in them, I know of some very good players who have gone through 15k+ downswings at 5/10 spins. And you do get a ****-ton of points in them :)

Thanks for posting ! How do you track profit/losses ? Skys account history search isnt great and doesnt work on some days for me so it makes tracking profit/losses difficult

I know some players keep a spreadsheet for results and reconcile it to their balance so they know they have everything included.

Yeah, i do keep a sheet for some cash and rake etc over various sites so guess i can do that, would have been nice if skys account history for cash games worked accurately tho :)

You should make a Diary for us to see your spin up journey :D i jumped in to some 1.50/3 spin ups yesterday and made £100 but could quite easily lose £100+ so quick. Goodluck

I know haha youre right ! Gonna spend the next couple of weeks looking at tables/players while playing from 1/2 up to 2/4 and see how it goes. Ill then decide if im gonna cut my losses or keep playing spins on the side

Those £5/£10 games are lethal though
