UKOPS XX - Review of Day 8

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 172,247

A very good Saturday morning to you all.

Apologies for the absence of a UKOPS Day 7 Review, but I took the day off & went out for the day. Won't bore you with the details, but was quite surprised that the train passed though this place, which was not where I thought it was.

    UKOPS XX Event # 39 , £22 entry, £3,000 guarantee Rebuy

    This came in with 101 Uniques, & a Prize Pool of £5,140, more than 60% above the £3,000 Guarantee. Good start to the Friday evening, that.

    @FeelGroggy, who has been running brutally bad all UKOPS, fell just shy of the money. My respect for him has increased this week, he's taken his run-bad like a proper player should, well done him.

    As I noted earlier this week - just my opinion of course - but I do get the impression that the Rebuys on Sky Poker are fiercely contested, & you need to be pretty good at the game to do well in them consistently. This was no exception, the payout list was full of really good players.

    Minor cashes went the way of @heddoh18, @f3nix35, @cpfc_2010, Sticky Solly, @beefheart1, @Froozle, @The_Reflex, @gazza127 - about time too - and @ash066pts who final table bubbled but is having a superb UKOPS XX.

    In 6th place, @DarkNeo1 was completing a remarkable UKOPS XX sequence - he (or she?) has now had a 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th. I have no easy way of checking, but that might be unique to this Series.

    5th was @cash123 and 4th was @duncan1979.

    In 3rd was another who is having a great Series, @Sharki0. So good, he gets his own picture.

    Runner-up was @Simmy4k, who also cashed in the UKOPS 29 Rebuy, & was runner up in the November 2016 UKOPS PLO. Been with Sky Poker 7 years without troubling the judges much until last year, since when has shown remarkably improved form with a bunch of tidy cashes.

    Winner was @hoff92, adding to his UKOPS win in the Xmas 2014 UKOPS, & he also has two SUMMIT wins.

    For a moment I had a strange vision of you wandering around the Mount Florida area with a Norwegianish - English phrase book looking very befuddled whilst trying to find a Starbucks outlet.

    UKOPS XX Event # 40 , £22 entry, £15,000 guarantee Rebuy Bounty Hunter

    354 entrants, & they averaged over a rebuy each, so this came in at £16,540, 10% above Guarantee.

    I must make quick mention of @Middz68 even though he only finished 47th. As there was no report yesterday, it may have escaped your notice that he won the UKOPS PLO8 the previous night. I'm told that many good judges considered Thursday's UKOP PLO8 as the toughest event of the week, & you needed to be really good to make the Final of that one. Just saying, like.

    @FeelGroggy snuck into the money in 24th. (should that be snucked? snicked? snuckered?).

    18th was @MacMonster , a real Senior moment for Ian.

    @wynne1938 was 17th, @f3nix35 15th, @LARSON7 13th - go Rangers - and @DustoLucko 11th.

    First Final Table exit was @JewBoy172, 5th was @DW1414 just behind the immensely profitable @JCordy.

    In 3rd was @Nutter5932. In the past, I tended to refer to him as "the boy Nutter", or "Young Ben", but in fact he's 43 now, & has been on Sky poker since the day it started I think.

    He won £6,000 in a UKOPS as far back as 2012, & despite really being a HU and SNG specialist, (my entire losses at HU SNG's are down to him), he has won most of the bigger MTT's on Sky Poker, as well as snagging several Viva Las Vegas packages. He can't be far off being one of the most profitable SNG/MTTers here, & has a whopping 85,000 games to his name here on Sky Poker. Well done Ben, think I will have to stop calling you "Young Ben" now.

    Ben is a bit camera shy, so I had to go back to 2010 to find an interview with him. Ben will LOVE this, which was from Total Player.

    Runner-up last night was @jordz16, who you may recall binked £15,000 for £25 a few days ago thanks to arguably the daftest bet he has ever placed.

    The winner was @Kawaii420. I'm afraid I know very little about this player, except that his Sharky graph just took off.

    UKOPS XX Event # 41 , £5.50 entry, £4,000 guarantee Rebuy Bounty Hunter

    A whopping field of 510 runners so the £4,000 Guarantee was bested by around a to £5,395 once the rebuys & add-ons were included. That's a big Mini.

    image

    @Mather14 got back on the scoresheet, as did @DustoLucko & @cpfc_2010. I noticed a small cash for @GSmith13 who is what the kids call a bit of a crusher, though little has been seen of him in UKOPS XX so far.

    @TimmyRaRa managed a mini Mini cash, and @gazza127 who has been bemoaning his luck all week won a few bob too. I planned to post a photo & so I put "Moan It In" into google Image Search. Ugh, don't go there. Let's move swiftly on.

    6th was @DOUBLESNO7, & 5th was @mint2210.

    4th was this man, who looks remarkably like Boris Becker in this photo;

    image

    Yes, that really is stokefc, God bless him. And this was him last night;

    image

    3rd was @topladwa02, with @duncan1979, giving him a 2nd to go with his 4th place in the evening's opener. Good night for Duncan.

    Winner was @ash066pts who is having a cracking UKOPS XX, & might just fancy winning the Leaderboard - this was his fifth Top 10 & third Final Table. Going some, that.

    UKOPS XX Event # 42 , £22 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter

    This one looked like it was going to miss Guarantee, but it eventually squeezed over the line with just 6 to spare.

    Small cashes for @omm and @MAXALLY, also for @BLUEM0ON13, which does not come around very often.

    More UKOPS money for @DustoLucko, @day4eire76, @Excessive7.

    @Wageslip got paid (6th), @Dumbmo (5th) & the curiously named @MAGPIETYKE in 4th.

    It was a 2nd UKOPS XX Final Table for @conga38 (3rd), with @keithste31 the runner-up.

    @BigHawk89 was breaking his UKOPS duck, his first ever UKOPS win. I wonder if he is named after the rapper, BIG HAWK, (sadly now no longer with us, he was murdered in 2006), who was the bro of Fat Pat who was also murdered, though 8 years earlier. You think I make this stuff up, don't you? It's all true, go ask Mr google.

    You were a shuttering joiner? Wow, never knew that. I ran a shuttering & steelfixing company for 20 years or more.

    UKOPS XX Event # 43 , £55 entry, £4,000 guarantee Turbo Bounty Hunter

    This is the regular UKOPS closer each night, & easily surpassed the Guarantee.

    Well done @SUPERSNEDD who got himself in the money, as did @Tessellate.

    image

    6th was @sjl1973, 5th, @BA100 with @snodgrass1 4th.

    @ender749 (3rd) is a Sky Poker newbie, only joined in October, so that's good, & it was his 2nd UKOPS XX cash.

    2nd? It was that man @ash066pts again, for his 6th Top Ten & 4th Final Table of UKOPS XX. That's a remarkable run, & he must now be the jolly to take down the Total Player Leaderboard.

    Top of the shop was @Bizzy, a new name to me.

    So that was that, a good night all round, well done all.

    Tonight?

    Well it's the (unofficial) Bonfire Night, so there might be an overlay sweat. To combat that, it's an all Bounty Hunter UKOPS night, so it might pan out ok.

    You could have been forgiven for thinking that you might be travelling in the wrong direction, when I'm guessing you also passed through Berwick station two stops earlier.

    Nice write up Tikay,

    ^^^^

    Correct.

    It was a complete surprise to me.

    An even bigger surprise was the discovery of how big Lewes Bonfire Night is. Just wow.

    Yes, not for the feint hearted that one.
    60,000 people in a town with a population of 17,000, and narrow streets.

    It has prompted them to suspend all train services, in and out, for around 20 hours around the event, to try to keep people away.

    Astonishing, isn't it? Has its own Wiki page and everything.

    My interest was aroused by the fact that our train stopped at Lewes (yesterday, Friday) and we saw all the signs saying trains would not stop at Lewes all day Saturday "due to Lewes Bonfire Night".

    We saw the bonfire being readied, and the huge wooden cross, from the train.

    More surprises awaited in Eastbourne, but that's another story for another day.
