Good morning.
Before we start, today is November 5th, so a word or two about the chap named Guido Fawkes who was, in a way, responsible for "bonfire nights" & all those dreadful fireworks that scare our pets to bits.
He was hiding under the Houses of Parliament on November 5th 1605, with his pile of gunpowder at the ready, when he was discovered by the authorities.
Captured & tried, he was found guilty & sentenced to be "hung drawn and quartered". What exactly is hung drawn & quartered? For a male (it was different for a female), it meant they were hung - but not quite to the point of death - emasculated (willy & undercarriage chopped off), disembowelled (intestines etc removed from stomach), beheaded, & finally cut into 4 pieces, i.e., quartered.
Come 31st January, the day he was due to undergo that rather nasty & slow death, he was taken up a scaffold ready for the process to commence when he slipped & fell from the top, breaking his neck & dying instantly. Its not often we can say that instant death is a lucky escape, but I fancy Mr Fawkes might have thought himself lucky had he not already been seriously dead.
As Jim Bowen might have said to Guido, here's what you would have won.
On which diversion, I guess it's time to have a look at what happened in UKOPS XX last night.

UKOPS XX Event # 44 , £22 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter
213 runners, so the evening was off to a steady start, with the guarantee covered, but not by much.Firstly, well done to the nonagenarian Dollie, who managed a (very) small return, but it all helps.
Familiar names also in the minor money were Sticky Solly, @The_Reflex, @BigCes who notched a win earlier on Day One, and just short of the Final Table a trio of hotshots in @henners10, @TheDart and @loololollo.
6th was @Luescher, & 5th @GUNNER01. Talking of the Gunners, Arsenal are away to Manchester City today. Anyone care to predict the score? I fear a City goal avalanche.
4th was @edrich who won a UKOPS in the Autumn UKOPS this time last year. I had the good fortune to share a poker table with Edrich at a Sky Poker Priority Freeroll at DTD a few years ago, & I can tell you he is a lovely chap. Was a good night that - free booze, free buffet, a £10,000 Freeroll, bounties for busting Mr Channing & I, and a guest appearance from Carl Froch.
3rd place last night went to @wineli who has all sorts of victories on his Sky Poker resume, including Sunday Major, Summit, Hitman and Avenger.
Runner-up @lyonsbob06 needs no introduction, a 40% ROI over a 10,000 game sample says it all.
Winner was @gillian712 of whom I know very little, except that she (he?) has won a bunch of small MTT's here, mostly Bounty Hunters, but this was the biggest by far. Well done Gillian.
UKOPS XX Event # 45 , £110 entry, £15,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter
Player fatigue, UKOPS fatigue, or just bad planning, who knows, but this one missed Guarantee by 9 players, or nearly £1,000. Poor Sky James will be summoned on Monday morning by Nasty Sam. Fancy a bit of this, James? What it lacked in numbers it made up for in quality, with some cracking players running deep, including @MikeyW94, @LmfaoAllin, @cpfc_2010, @Tedson & @GoldenARMS.
@Direwolf was there too, Guy - that's his name - won a Viva Las Vegas trip a few years back, & I'm not sure any VLV winner ever enjoyed it more. Here's Guy enjoying himself at DTD around 6 years ago.
@macapaca, looking for a 2nd UKOPS win (the first was in 2014) fell just shy of the Final Table.
In 6th was Sky Poker stalwart @IRONZ, with all round good-guy @StayOrGo 5th, hotpot @railtard11 4th and @KopKing74 3rd.
@SoLack so nearly won this, but was eventually 2nd. Did I ever mention he called me with K-J - KING-JACK, not even a pair - at an SPT 9 years ago? Shocking play.
Winner was @2tight2cal, taking down a Sky Poker UKOPS after only 50 MTT's on the site. Well done Sir or Madam, a shiny new Sky Poker UKOPS Bracelet will be on it's way to you very soon.
UKOPS XX Event # 46 , £11 entry, £3,000 guarantee Mini Bounty Hunter
Never a worry that this would not cover, & it came in at £4,790, some 60% above Guarantee.
@tomgoodun nicked a few bob, as did @edrich for his 2nd cash of the evening, as did @macapaca for 2 cashes in a row, & @jawzindawz, with @UPFORITRUTWO in 8th. (Should that be "too" or "two", one wonders?)
@bond19 was 6th, @alexnoak05 5th & @londman 4th.
@mattprawn was 3rd, which, by accountant's standards was jolly exciting.
Runner-up @Itsover4u came within one spot of winning his 2nd event of UKOPS XX, having won the 10pm UKOPS affair on Thursday, & narrowly missed being a 3 time UKOPS winner as he also won one this time last year. He also has wins in Sheriff, Sharpshooter, Gold Rush & Avenger to his name.
@Razzle76 dazzled in 1st place, securing their biggest ever Sky Poker pay packet.
Worthy of mention, I'm sure you'll agree, was the chap who finished 471st. Fine effort Sir.
The lashings of witty banter in the UKOPS 45 report more than made up for it though.
Good luck James, if you need to get in the good books... Just throw a new tourney which will smash its guarantee into the schedule. Maybe a weekly £33 PLO8 BH or something similar.
Entertaining read as always.
Not sure if I will be partaking in the mini UKOPS, I go in to 'discuss hours' with my new boss on Wednesday. Hopefully at the very least I will get a game with you in the mini UKOPS PLO8 BHs, I know how much you love those PLO8 BHs!
UKOPS XX Event # 47 , £22 entry, £4,000 guarantee Bounty Hunter
This one seems to perform fairly consistently, and it came in at £4,320 last night, some 8% over Guarantee.Mini-monies for @jonnyrkd who is a good guy, @glencoelad - ditto - and @Aaaces3, who cashed on Day 5.
Previous cashees who added a little to their 'roll included @loololollo, @BigCes and @Lynz89.
The oddly-named @k1realis23 was 6th, @homersmpsn (not to be confused with Dohhhhh) was 5th, and @peter1231q 4th.
In 3rd was @ScottyKaye who must have cashed more times than most in the Sky Poker Midnight Express, so I guess he's one of those guys that plays late at night, & runner-up was @1317.
Winner @BigDane was taking down his first ever UKOPS, though he has a stack of decent wins in non-UKOPS stuff to his credit.
UKOPS XX Event # 48 , £55 entry, £4,000 guarantee Turbo Bounty Hunter
This just about fell over the line with 83 runners, needing 80, but that'll do.@MAXALLY min-cashed, but no sympathy for him, he's probably still counting the £3,000+ he scooped in the HR earlier in the week.
@scotty77 was a spot ahead. Ryan does not much enjoy having his photo taken, but this is a pretty good shot of him;
@wineli had a small cash to add to their 3rd in the evening's opener, & @Solack bubbled. Did I ever mention how he once called me - called ME - with K-J?
In 6th was @greg1974, & 5th was
youngBen Nuttall.@sarberman was 4th, with the seriously profitable @RyanC7 in 3rd, adding to his UKOPS 17 winnings earlier this week. He won Marksmen last week, too. @SilencePlz was 2nd.
Winner @luckme002 consistently puts in very high volume of Sky Poker MTT's, and has got one of those lovely spinning Gold Stars for "Count" in both 2016 & 2017. Has a shed-load of wins to his credit, too, but he was breaking his UKOPS duck here.
So UKOPS XX is nearly at an end, but rather fittingly for Bonfire Night it will go out with a bang tonight, as it includes the biggest Guarantee of the entire UKOPS Xx, the £40,000 Guaranteed Main Event. With many folks out at bonfire parties, overlay is a distinct possibility. Poor Sky James......
UKOPS 49 | £4,000 Bounty Hunter 7pm £22 £4,000 10 3000
UKOPS 50 | £1,500 PLO 7.30pm £22 £1,500 10 3000
UKOPS 51 | £40,000 Freezeout Main Event* 8pm £110 £40,000 15 10000
UKOPS 52 | £3,000 Mini Freezeout 8.30pm £11 £3,000 10 3000
UKOPS 53 | £4,000 Bounty Hunter 9pm £22 £4,000 10 3000
UKOPS 54 | £4,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter 10pm £55 £4,000 7 5000
As you can see, there's also the rarity of a PLO jobbie tonight, too. Num num num.
Bonus time;
In tonight's Main Event, you will get a bonus prize of a £110 free entry into next week's Sunday Major if you bust either the guy with the lovely jacket & tie, or the fella with the dreadful shirt.
Don't forget - a £110 Sunday Major seat is all yours if you bust either of them.
If not, thank you for all your kind comments.
"Terribly written blog" (by Matt Bates) was easily my favourite.
The "Sky Juicer" was turned up to full a little earlier. My exit hand four handed was a beaut,
Thanks again for these updates, and good luck playing tonight,
Ed.
Tikay, you have excelled yourself Sir in writing these updates through out the UKOPS series.
Witty, funny and engaging. Excellent stuff, enjoy your Super Sunday!
