** JACKPOT SYNDICATE ** MY AVAILABILITY AND APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE **

Hi guys.

Obviously the change to the forum and the introduction of GOOGLE SHEETS has meant lots of work for me, and lots of process changes for people to get used to. I am hoping over time this work will lessen and that more people can assist as administrators.

I am more than happy to put the initial work in, but there are certain hours when I am unavailable.

I am dipping my toe in some bigger stakes Poker MTT's at the moment, and typically stake $2K + per day on MTT buy ins, more on weekends.

It's not just my money I have some "backers" who I class as friends that I don't want to let down, so the poker has to take my full focus during these hours.

I'm not saying this to act like a "big shot" because I am not, and my Poker results from the last few weeks have been pretty poor.

I owe it to my backers and myself to completely dedicate myself to the MTT schedule between 5pm and 2am (approx) each day and not be "distracted" by Jackpot Syndicate stuff.

So my current schedule is as follows:

1) Get back from the school run at about 4.20pm. (Tues, Weds, Fri)
2) 4.30pm Record results, update league tables, post on thread, reset NAPS sheet etc, to complete no later than 5pm. (MAXALLY currently learning this process)
3) Start Poker Schedule at 5pm.
4) When poker schedule finishes (Average 2am) do REMOVERS SPREADSHEET if GO-LIVE day.
5) Start preparing GO-LIVE selections at approx 11am following day, if GO-LIVE.

This is why I need help in finding out the meeting, so that Roger can prep the sheet the evening before if it's a GO-LIVE

What I typically want to do, is for us to know the meeting by 6.45pm, so that in my 5 minute break at 6.55pm, I can decide if it is a GO or NO-GO. If I know that it is going to be a NO-GO regardless of the meeting then I will say so before 5pm and checking the meeting will be unnecessary.

So I am hoping, going forward, by 7pm Roger will know if it is a GO or not and where it is, so that he will be able to prep the sheet ready for when my poker session finishes. (We could also do with a backup for Roger when he is unavailable)

So finding out the meeting at approx 6.45pm is really important and I am hoping that between you guys, you can do this, because, as I said previously I really have to be in "poker mode" at that time. I will then be able to make a quick post just before 7pm which Roger can act upon.

MAXALLY has been getting to grips with the admin processes and it would be good if he can explain this to others once he is up to speed.

Finally, as you know I am in Punta Cana from 18th-27th November. It is possible, but not likely, that I can facilitate a GO-LIVE from there, but best to assume that there will be no live attempts unless I notify you otherwise.

Thanks again for your continued support and assistance.

Cheers,

G

    Hi Graham

Good luck with the staked poker and all things Punta mate....hope you turn around recent results and smash the tournament over there.

I am not going to beat about the bush, and do some straight talking now.

When up to speed, I really will not mind doing the admin/updates on the NAPS tables. HOWEVER, I cannot fully commit 100% to it 365 days. With all due respect, I think we all have 'real life' stuff away from the syndicate but I do fully understand where you are coming from. I think having a 'daily' NAPS comp on here is good in theory but not so good in practice when it comes to the work involved implementing/administrating it, IMHO.

    Simple solution

    - This is not taking away anything you have done so far Graham so please do not take the following the wrong way.....
We may as well scrap the daily NAPS. The new forum does not lend itself in assisting us with it any more (with no real solution on the horizon), and TBH it is only a 'bit of fun' that nobody will really miss. Hopefully, Brrrrrrr will run his normal NAPS comp, so we can all get our tipping fix with that. Maybe just run it to the end of the year (?)

I still think it is important for the syndicate as a whole to maintain NAPS/REMOVALS selections and tables on GO LIVE days. There is a team in place ATM assisting you on this and we could always improve that help in the coming attempts, hopefully.

    Regards,
    Alan

I have to agree with ALAN'S POST ( above ).

Recently I was all for continuing with DAILY NAPS but am fully aware of the work and strain it is putting on GRAHAM -whom is done a great job - and as ALAN said, to commit 365 days is a very big ask.

Maybe we can concentrate our efforts on getting more syndicate members involved on GO-LIVE days.

As far as the following days JACKPOT MEETNG, I don't mind being involved, as it's in my interest to know ASAP if a RACECARD needs preparing.

A bit heart breaking LOL but tend to agree with Alan and Roger, just go forward with Naps on Go live days. Dont know what I'll do with my spare time but cant commit to anything definite to help.
Back you whatever you decide Graham and good luck with the poker.

Hi guys, yes what we really need enough people helping, to have a rota.

For example if we only needed to do our respective tasks once every three weeks or so, it wouldn't be too bad.

It's just quite hard if the same person has to do his respective task(s) every day.

It would be a shame to lose it as it seems to generate a lot of fun, which is what it is about, but can be a drag for those having to maintain the "system" if they don't get a break.

Also the "donkey work" of setting up the new processes/templates has largely been done now, so in theory it should be easier.

However without enough people to maintain the system in a balanced way, so that it doesn't always fall to the few, then we probably will be better advised to just do GO-LIVE days.

Lets see how things are around Christmas time and see if there is the appetite to try and keep it going.

I know a lot of people are really helping with the Jackpot Syndicate in general, and it couldn't work without you. I think if we could just slightly increase the number of "helpers" we could make it work, so lets see how things are in December.

    Hi all,

It would be a shame after all the work in getting this going if things did just GO LIVE. The problem is that even though I can post to google sheets I haven't the techinical nouse to do what G and Alan now doing.

However if the Naps results sheet is posted daily I can do my (checking) tables after each Go Live and yearly and monthly ones weekly. Whilst this might not be the preferred option , if we cant get enough technical expertise to do an all singing all dancing Google sheet table at least it would keep everything going and be a lot easier than one or two people having to put in oceans of work for shangri la.

It could be an option .

Yeh, I think people may be a bit apprehensive to do ADMIN tasks on GOOGLE SHEETS, as it's new to them. But I think once people have done it a few times, they would find it less difficult that perhaps they currently think.

Alan has made giant strides and is getting used to it now, so hopefully he can back me up on that. I have tried to design it so less steps are now necessary.

But it is massively reassuring Vaigret that we have you checking stuff for us! If you are happy to do that, as and when is fine, not daily, then we just need one or two more people prepared to do what Alan is doing on a one week in three basis to share the load.

    Cheers,

    G

quite happy to do and if it means that if their is a problem with keeping running totals for whatever reason on google sheets at least you all know you have this backup and dont need to panic. As I say all I need is a daily post on Naps results so I can see who did what horse etc then we will always have a handle on the running totals.

    Many thanks Rab.

Perhaps either on Saturday or Sunday if you are available around 4.30 ish we can go through some steps.

But you can leave it until your hand is better if you want, glad you are OK after the crash.
