OK, I am toying with the idea of allowing people to take a price with their NAP's in 2018.

Best Odds Guaranteed is the industry standard so a NAP's system that goes only on SP is going to effectively short change NAPSTERS quite often.

The NAPSTER would need to enter the horses name and best odds available at the time they submit their selection. If they do this they wouldn't be able to amend their selection later unless it is a non runner and if the price drifts they still have to stick to the price originally entered. (Just as if it was a real bet.)

The NAP will then be settled at that price, or the SP whichever is the better (ie in line with the industry standard)

Hopefully this will boost returns and be more reflective of the profit/loss that would have been made over the month/year.

It does however mean that we would have to trust napsters to put the genuine best price available (I recommend doing this via oddschecker and then confirming that the odds are truly available on the site in question.)

I can't name sites, but it would have to be a "well known" one and the odds would have to be genuinely available at the time the selection was entered.

So for example my selection for Mon 4th Dec is Ladies First in the 12.20 at Southwell, currently 4/1 is available. As you can tell from my punt on it below:

    Bet Details Date/Time Stake Return
    Ladies First @ 4/1
    £50.00 E/W Single
    03/12/2017 22:19:18 100.00 0.00

So I would put the following on the sheet:

    12.20: LADIES FIRST 4/1

MAX, myself or whoever is doing the scoring will then settle at 4/1 or the SP, whichever is the greater, looking out for any non runners and rule 4.

It may sound more complex but it isn't really. As long as people are genuine with their prices. NAPSTERS that don't want to do this can just have the SP as before.

Doing it this way will give a real indication as to the profit/loss that could have been made backing all selections at a level stake, which I personally think would be a more accurate interpretation.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

    G

Hi G, as an updater/processor of results nowadays, I think the idea is good in theory but not as good in practice.

I know it is a bit of fun but adding another check to the process will (IMO) possibly open a can of worms if the 'wrong' price is allocated to winning selections. You are relying on folks to not only post up selections (on thread & google sheets) but also state a SP price too. To eliminate any grey areas, I just think it is much easier to take the price from the official result. I use Sporting Life for these (part of Sky anyway?) . Plus sometimes folks may just pick a horse without even knowing the odds (in my case anyway).

I will see what others say, but it is a no from me, sorry.

I agree with Alan on this, even though a lot of my NAPS do seem to drop in price from when I post them. I think it will be harder to check and more work for you, and also Napsters would get different results for the same selection and it could cause further confusion. At least with SP there are no variables.

OK, we'll scrap that idea then, rule 4's may make things more complicated too.

    Hi all.

I hope you are looking forward to the new year and re-start of all the NAPS and REMOVER tables.

Take a look at the OP on this thread for new rules that are coming in for 2018.

I will try and automate the NAPS process a bit more to avoid errors and make results processing easier.

I am hoping that daily results, selections, wins and P&L will only need to be entered once and then it automatically updates all tables.

I will work on it in January, when all monthly, quarterly and yearly tables will be the same.

I hope you all have a good Christmas. If you have any questions/thoughts regarding the proposed rule changes on the Opening Post, feel free to post here.

    Cheers,

Please note in the new year the NAPS SHEET will change slightly. I am trying to automate more of it to avoid the manual effort and potential errors.

MAX, I will cover the first few days of Jan, as I will be playing around with the sheet. (Still on December thread).

Then on about the 4th or 5th of Jan, I will set up a new thread for results etc. and I will post all January results on the new thread and then you can take over again MAX, if that's OK?

    Cheers,

That is fine G. I will update results today and the rest of December. I left my 'idiot' notes at work but I should know by now how to do them.

Hi guys, there are a lot of rule changes for 2018, please make sure you read the OP of this thread before making your New Year selections.

The look and feel of the NAPS sheet will change too, but it should be intuitive as to what to do.

    Cheers,
