Poker training aids/Christmas presents.
Looking for advice about how best to improve my game and at the same time solve my lovely wife’s problem of what to buy me for Christmas.
All suggestions welcome. I have loads of poker books but what books do people rate. Any new ones out there?
Poker software. Hand analysers etc.
Training sites – any recommendations?
What would anyone want as a poker related gift for Christmas?
And a very merry Christmas to all.

It is main regarding satellite play, but covers all aspects.
He is one of the top European players, and does not mind if you contact him after
buying with any questions.
his twitter is @daraokearney cheers, and have a Merry Christmas, run well !
Neil you just need to chill and be at one with yourself... or the tough book works too.
You can email me hands from time to time, or if you want to embark on a new "style" we can discuss that too.
Cheers,
Graham
I don't do formal "paid" coaching, but I am happy to help out the odd person for free. (time permitting)
In a couple of days, I'll send you a "pocket guide" that I wrote previously for my son (Limp2Lose). (I wrote it 4 or 5 years ago, so want to change some bits first)
After that, I'll offer you a couple of suggestions and we'll see how you go. I can review the occasional hand history too.
I tend to teach my "style" of play, which doesn't suit all, and most players get worse before they get better when trying to adapt.
If you are prepared for that, then PM me your email address and I'll see if I can help.
Cheers,
Graham
Over the past couple of years I've seen so many players improve a great deal and I'm getting my botty smacked a LOT.
I will pm you my address and appreciate you sending me your guide. I also feel that I need a few hours 1 to 1 coaching, with somebody who will (for a fee) actually watch me play, via a screen share or something, and take notes etc. Are there coaches out there who do this or isn't that how it works? If so, do you know how I can go about finding someone?
Anyway, apologies for butting in on your thread Donald, it just tied in with the help that I was looking for too.
I am happy to watch you play for a while, although, to be fair to your opponents, I won't comment until after you bust or the MTT finishes.
Regarding "proper" coaches, I wouldn't want to recommend one, but if you want to go down that route, then I am sure other people could advise.
Cheers,
Graham
In all honesty, with Christmas coming up, my time at the tables will be quite sporadic over the next couple of weeks. I plan to start afresh with a set schedule in the new year so it will probably be best to wait until then.
I don't want to inconvenience you though, so will be more than happy to work around your schedule. In the meantime, I would certainly be interested to read your guide when you have finished updating it.
Also, seeing as you are taking the time to help myself and others, I would like you to stick another tenner onto my donation for your charity thread.
You're a true gent Graham.
Of the books that you own, which ones did you find most beneficial to your game?
Waller, no problem crashing the thread, the more the merrier.
Cheers Chris.
They are not guides as such, but very useful for fundamentals non the less.
I would recommend having a play around with them. (Especially the top two which are interactive)
If you need any help explaining the sites, running simulations with pro poker tools or using the odds calculator, etc, let me know:

Thistled, a good way to improve would be to take out a an essential subscription with Run it Once, I think its $10 per month, although this may now have increased to $25. If it's $25 it would be worth it for one month atleast (you can cancel anytime).
For free material, there is a lot of good players who stream on twitch and even if they don't go into great detail on strat, you can still see how they play certain hands and what actions they are taking and why. Charlie Carroll was streaming on Sunday for example, any regular streamer with 300+ viewers will generally be very good and strong and poker, I quite like BParispokers stream, he has been very successful at his time in poker.
Books for poker are generally pretty bad, they go out of date so quick, one book to consider though is Chris Moormans book on MTTs, where he discusses how he would play a whole lot of hands at different stages of a MTT.
