PLEASE REMOVE 20 INCLUDING AT LEAST TWO FROM EACH LEG.

Sorry for being so late with this. Many thanks to Roger for picking it up in the midnight hour!

    First race is early. 11.40am

Obviously it helps if you can get selections in before 10.30am, but as I have given you such little notice anytime before the off will be fine.

Although be aware that I will be using the same sheet to do the perms, so be careful just to update your own column.

    Cheers,

    G

    P.S. V, I don't know if you are available at 10.50 - 11.00 ish?

TOSHIMA and ECHO BRAVA are NON RUNNERS, so removals reduced to just 20.

I have taken these two out from RABS and ZADOC's

Brutal day for the removers means the non participants have made giant strides.

This is not ideal, I have spoken with Vaigret about this a while ago, with view to changing the scoring based on the "mean average" score on the day, but we decided it was too complex and figured on balance it should even out.

Although after the dramatic effect todays scores had on things, I am not so sure.

I'm not sure what the solution is, obviously we are going to have some non-participants from time to time, and on brutal days like these they will benefit greatly and visa versa on high scoring days they will lose ground.

Any ideas of how to overcome this are welcome as we come up to the new year, or do we just have to accept it's not perfect?

    Cheers,

    G

Ok, the best solution to non attendance that I can think of (for 2018 onwards) would be to allocate a score to the non-attendee's that is the "AVERAGE SCORE" for that day.

That should be easy to implement and prevent what happened today.

Or alternatively, a slightly harsher option, but maybe fairer overall, and to encourage participation, would be to allocate them the lowest score of the day.

Please post your thoughts on these ideas as I really want to sort this before 2018 starts.

    Cheers,

On balance, I like applying the lowest score the best and also the number of winners/selections that accompany the lowest players score.

I think it's better than non-participation is a slight disadvantage rather than the other way around.

    But will wait on feedback.

Hi G it was unfortunate that it was a brutal day on a day when some people for various reasons, prob late call to go , were nt on parade. For that reasoon I would say if you do bring in a score for non participants in 2018 it should be average score not bottom.

Today I was "lucky" to miss out. Going forward it would be unfair in circumstances where you dont know a go live is happening/ happened that you got the low score.

Really sorry I missed this as so much fun, but then on the other hand aint I a lucky so and so LOL

What happened today was a shame.

It was a tightly fought contest that is now between the two non-participants (no fault of their own), but unfortunate that their leads increased in that manor.

Not taking away anything from V or SNUFF, they deserve their leads, and it is understandable, especially when short notice/time of year etc, that non participation may happen, but I just want a fairer process when it does.

In a way, I am glad this happened now, so we can address it for 2018.

    Cheers,

totally agree it should be addressed and hope my point above well made. but not desperately unhappy if its the lowest score. That would certainly hit any "cant be bothereds" I just worry for the people who get the low score through circumstances beyond their control.

How about they get the average score for their first omission in any given calendar month, lowest score there after? Could also throw in an extra average score if they miss more than one due to holiday or late notification of GO-LIVE.

May seem complex, but not really, and will make it MUCH fairer.

Sounds good to me . I would nt worry about throwing in any average lives though keep it simple. One average chance a month

Sorry I couldn’t participate this week as have been away since Xmas eve.

I’m happy to go with whatever you decide for non-participation going forward.

Hope you all had a great Xmas.

Yes, although could be harsh when people are away/unavailable for a week or two, so how about 1 per month, but can have 3 yearly "upon request" ones on top if they notify beforehand that they are away/unavailable etc.

Any non shows outside of that will then be allocated the lowest score.

Good, glad we sorted it before 2018 starts!

Looks like you are champion elect in both the 2017 live removers and live naps. VWP!

Thanks snuffer and have a great 2018. Dare I say As it happens you came out pretty neutral with your misses as you missed the carnage today like myself but missed out on grabbing loads of points on Boxing Day. And whose to say we wouldnt have done pretty good today anyway.
