    UKOPS 17 £2,000 Bounty Hunter 5:00pm £11 £2,000 3,000

    Day 3 of Sky Poker's UKOPS. My my, time seems to fly by, Christmas seemed so far away, now it's been and gone, UKOPS was on it's penultimate night, & New Years day is just 2 sleeps distant.

    Day 3 of UKOPS XXI began with a nice, relatively affordable (£11) Bounty Hunter, though we must never forget that the key word there is "relatively". To many less fortunate people, £11 is a fortune & might make the difference between feeding the family or going without. We are blessed to live in such luxuriant times. Or at least, most of us are.

    Anyway, with those sobering thoughts in mind, on we go, & the opener attracted a healthy 222 entrants. In cricket, of course, 222 would mean "Double Nelson", & is deemed to be an unlucky number. 111 is a "regular" Nelson, because 111 resembles the three stumps of a wicket without bails, & so multiples of 111 became Double, Treble Nelson etc. I bet you are pleased I mentioned all that.

    Here's the late David Shepherd giving the Nelson signal. It was David who first used the "waggling hand" whilst signalling a four which cricket crowds the world over still mimic to this day.

    Good to see @SR23 hit the money - here's the man himself, trying to look intelligent during the Brighton SPT last month.

    In 6th place was the veteran Sky Poker man @GREGHOGG , who has been with Sky Poker, on & off, since Day 1, & has racked up the best part of 30,000 MTT's here. God bless Greg, a really smashing lad with a heart of gold.

    5th went to @1nitro1 , then @Xsas , @chrisdonkb , & runner-up @LEAMMAC76 .

    Winner @johno09038 8 has had a few nice results in his 6 years here, but this was his first UKOPS win. Bet that felt good.

    UKOPS 18 £2,500 Bounty Hunter 6:00pm £22 £2,500 3,000

    This one, like the opener, also eased over the Guarantee line with a degree of comfort, so far so good.

    Yet again, @Bromley023 cashed. What IS going on? It's Natalie Bromley, of course, perhaps encouraged by the success of her beloved Burnley.

    @waller02 was 16th, @jawzindawz z 10th, with serial UKOPS XXI casher @ALBA8 9th.

    In 8th was one time forum regular @Lightwood , his contributions are much missed. Shame he no longer posts much.

    6th place went to @loopyloo43 , who won a UKOPS just 2 days ago, with @Barney61 5th & @Bernie02 4th.

    @gadge69 occupied the bottom step of the podium, with @JJBinks , who won the UKOPS Day opener yesterday, having to be content with the runner-up spot this time. Turn that heater up.

    Winner was @jakescol , who has plenty of decent wins on his Sky Poker CV, which stretches back almost 10 years, but this was his maiden UKOPS victory. Excellent work Jake.

    UKOPS 19 £3,000 Freezeout 7:00pm £22 £3,000 3,000

    The first freezeout of the evening, so there would have been some Guarantee worries in Sky Poker Towers, but the fretting was in vain as this one crushed the Guarantee. By 1 runner.

    @Wacko90 collected what was, I think, his first cash of the Series, which is surprising if true.

    @scotty77 , @goldnballz , @bar4004 , @Sharki0 & @Curt360x27 all cashed. Here's a lovely photo of scotty77, beaming from ear to ear.

    In 6th was the ever likeable @cpfc_2010, who some say seem to always run good. Anyone got any evidence of that?

    image

    @IDONKCALLU was 5th, @Hywel_rob 4th, with @JammThis 3rd & @Bobski21 the unlucky runner-up.

    Viva Las Vegas package winner @scouse1515 took the win, which was his 2nd UKOPS victory. Go on you Reds.

    UKOPS 20 £1,500 PLO8 7:30pm £22 £1,500 4,000

    Sky Poker have a vociferous PLO8 Community here, who make their case well for a better spread of PLO8 MTT's, but sadly, this one missed the Guarantee, though not by much, ending just a table-full shy.

    Collective breaths were held when the first hands were dealt, wondering if we would have NL or PL, but all was well. Never in doubt, obv.

    Most of the Sky Poker PLO8 community played this, & most of them, sadly, exited before the money.

    6th place went to @SteBeard01 then PLO8 DYM regular @coo1-um , with @leSurge in 4th.

    Pretty sure everyone will have been pleased to see @tomgoodun finish 3rd, hard to think of a person on the site who is more respected than Tom.

    @bbMike , who is a formidable foe in the O8 DYM's, was runner-up, and the win went to @Lovey87 , who seems to do pretty well at PLO8 on Sky Poker, congrats Lovey.

    UKOPS 21 £15,000 Rebuy BH 8:00pm £22 £15,000 2,000

    And so to the Main Event, a rebuy Bounty Hunter on Sky Poker, num num num. 359 entrants, 291 rebuys & 132 add-ons ensured the £15,000 Guarantee was beaten with a bit to spare.

    6th place went to @Graveltrax , who seems to make a good deal of money beating up everyone at the £2, £3 & £5 DYM's.

    @trip10s was 5th, @Viking25 5 4th, and @Monty15 third.

    Runner-up was a player who does pretty well on Sky Poker - 40% ROI is something most of us can but dream of - so well done @Kidpoke450 0.

    With that Alias, we can reasonably assume he is a fan of Kid Poker, aka Danny Negreanu. Did you see the tale that emerged a day or two ago about Danny Negreanu? His poker "winnings" in 2015 ("winnings" = amount he CASHED for) came to 2.8 milly. And yet he still lost money when that was set against his buy-ins, & that excludes expenses. Yikes. Makes you think, that, or it should.

    image

    Our winner was Froozle, who ran 5th in the High Roller on opening night, & now adds close to £3,000 to his bulging 'roll, not forgetting one of these beauts;

    UKOPS 22 £5,000 Mini Rebuy BH 8:30pm £5.50 £5,000 2,000

    557 entries, 381 rebuys & 222 add-ons ensured this one knocked the Guarantee out of the park, as expected.

    In 25th place was @Jac35 . I wonder if that might prompt someone to post on his Diary? Doubt that, nobody ever does these days. Apparently.

    @splashies was 17th, with @HOLLYWHIT 12th.

    The Final Table saw @flaminstar in 6th, @johrees03 5th, @_DAC_ 4th, @jackl 3rd & @Morris707 - which sounds like a car I used to own - was the runner-up.

    Delighted for the winner, who now has one of those wonderful Sharky graphs which trundles along steadily then suddenly goes vertical. Well done @Suarez1984 back of the net, son.

    UKOPS 23 £5,000 Megastack 9:00pm £22 £5,000 10,000

    Sky Poker rarely worry about Guarantees in Bounty Hunters, but deepstacks & the like are always a stretch, & this Megastack was to prove no exception, missing target by more than enough.

    There was a 2nd cash of the evening for @cpfc_2010 , ditto for @Curt360x27 , and @Graveltrax . I noticed @The--Don min-cashed, that might - or might not - be the chap who used to do Twitch streams on Sky Poker. Interesting chap.

    Also noted amongst the small cashes were @mewillows & man-of-the-moment @jordz16 , who must wish there was a UKOPS Leaderboard thus time round.

    First to depart the final was @Viking25, shortly to be followed by @IRONZ , who has been a Sky Poker regular forever.

    @albania , aiming for a 4th UKOPS victory, came up just short in 4th, with @Wacko90 , after a quiet UKOPS by his standards, collecting his 2nd cash of the evening in 3rd place.

    A few years ago - 6 years, in fact - we used to do "In The Well" on Sky Poker forum, where we identified a player & everyone could ask them questions. Well Wacko90 was the first one on Sky Poker, & it was pretty interesting. Here you go, have a read of this - thread contains a few blasts from the past, too;

    https://community.skypoker.com/discussion/45029/in-the-well-1-wacko-90/p1

    So that just leaves the 1-2, & I was delighted to see my very best friend in poker & in life, @Red-Dog , take this one down. At least, he SHOULD have taken it down, as he had a 3-1 chip lead heads up. And he somehow lost it. Luckily, he's a mate, so I am free to abuse him. Tom, you blew it. And as he is a friend, I can put up a photo which makes him look daft. Here you go.

    image

    So congratulations go to 2-4-6-8 who do we Appreciate. Well done fella, especially for turning Red-Dog over. ;)

    UKOPS 24 £4,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter 10:00pm £55 £4,000 5,000

    Day 3 concluded with the £55 Turbo Bounty Hunter, this one does pretty well most nights but fell a few runners shy last night.

    @Lightwood & @Monty15 both had their 2nd cash of the night, with the latter falling one spot shy of his 2nd Final Table of the evening.

    In 6th was @SHOGUNS, just behind @yougomuck .

    Earlier in the evening, @jakescol l won the 6pm UKOPS, and now, oh-so-quickly, he was trying for a 2nd UKOPS win on the same night, but he came up a few spots short in 4th. Great effort though, well done bud.

    3rd was one of the Sky Poker hotpots, @devil_tear tear, who must have one of the best MTT ROI's on Sky Poker, north of 50% over a near 5,000 sample size. I'd play every day & twice on Sunday's if I had an ROI like that.

    Runner-up @ash066pts s plays pretty well too, and has one of those lovely shiny spinning gold star things on Sharky. We mere poker mortals can but dream.

    The winner's garland went to @Menome03 , & that rounded off a cracking day for him, as he also won the 3pm Bounty Hunter 7 hours earlier. Bet he fells great today when he logs on. Gotta love good days at poker.

    Fab review as always, thanks for the mention, well desrverved victory for Mr. Luvver man in the 08, I learned a lot watching him play ( alongside Jordz, Graham, Mark and others who graced the tables I was on) Shame it fell short of runners, hope sky keep plugging away with this format, it is such a fascinating game.

    Firstly, brilliant write up as always.

    Regarding the PLO8 slightly missing the guarantee...

    I did wonder why this was a standard PLO8 tourney and not a BH when the UKOPS schedule was announced. I did not mention it as, quite frankly, I 'go on' more than enough already.

    However, one of Sky's USPs are that the majority of tourneys are BHs. Some hate this and some love this but when it is debated the salient point is always that the BHs put more bums on seats. So I am not sure why this was a non BH, especially as the PLO8 games on the schedule which attract the largest fields are the BHs. It was just shy of the guarantee, had it been a BH I would be very surprised if it had not at least sneaked over the guarantee line.

    A trivial point on the grand scheme of things and definitely not intended to be a dig at Sky. I think Sky were extremely generous in refunding all the players who did not cash in the NLO MTT.
