It does look as though winners are being more appropriately penalised by the new system, so hopefully it will cause a change in priority amongst removers, to try and get zero winners as their first priority, which is want I always wanted the "mindset" to be, as that is what serves the purpose and the syndicate best.
Surely the strategy has to be to play as optimally as you can to retain title. Using statistics and interpretation of horse form?
of course it is and I will be trying there is no doubt about it but I will not back or nap a horse that is 6-4 and should be 3-1 for example and that is the same for removers. If I think a 6-4 shot has less chance than a 9-1 and I have the choice between the two I will always get rid of the 6-4.
As i said I was stupid today, if I fancied Willoughby court I should never have removed Yarnworth and in fact that was good vale at the price today. Also I did too quickly re time of year and worked from the first race through until I had reached 20. Should have reviewed them.
Dont worry I will be trying . its such good fun.
Lets hope the removals system narrows the fields even more now and we have many more wins.
Graham On the stats/value point all you need to do to is look at my Nursery thread. Who would have thought that backing 260 horses in nurseries could give you a profit over £100 backing all of them at £1 stake. shows that horses which the handicapper already has a better angle on are underpriced/over backed. The only thing I cant work out is that how many trainers/owners who have worked the system let their horse go off at 40-1 , 33-1, 25-1, etc etc .
Im just hoping they dont work that out by next flat season LOL

I have had a first pass at tomorrow's GO-LIVE selections.

I will watch your selections with interest as you now try to balance statistics and horse form opinions. Knowing you, I am sure you will adapt well.
