No this is incorrect.
The easiest way to work it out is to half the total return. So would have got £3.50 for an outright win, so get £1.75 instead, ie 75p profit.
If you are going to do the 50p route, then the return is £1.75 but you still have to take £1 off (as that was your real stake) not 50p, so is still only 75p profit.
It's a common mistake people make, they half the "odds" or the "would be" profit, instead of halfing the total return and then subtracting the original stake.
