Starting on Tuesday 23rd on yesterday channel 8pm A program called, impossible railways, seen some of the trailers for it,looks amazing, how they were able to build some of these railways is beyond belief, some are hanging of the sides of cliffs.
As to building railways, I'm very much a Brunel man. The Great Man, on horseback, personally surveyed & set out the line for the GWR from Paddington to Bristol. It's not as easy as it sounds, ideally the line needs to avoid hills & valleys, cross rivers where the width is most narrow, dig tunnels & all sorts.
So the line included such Victorian wonders as Maidenhead Bridge & Box Tunnel. Well over a century later, both are still doing their job as well as they did on Day 1, despite traffic loads & weights being significantly higher.

Good spot, I shall look out for it, thank you.
