Great reading- it really helps newbies like me to understand the game9and the thinking) a bit more.. Having met you at Brighton SPT and lost to you several times during those sats, can I wish you the best of luck with this...anything that keeps you away from the Manchester SPT sats( and any other subsequent SPT) is fine by me!!

thanks mate much appriciated..! we've just had an horrendous hour or so with everything going against us set up after set up its unreal ! look at some of these HH
This XR-all in on the river doesn't make a lot of sense. I would probably lean towards call since you two probably don't have too much history as it was one of your first sessions at this stake. If they know you respect their game, maybe they think they can get some sort of crazy shove through.
If it makes you feel any better, in a recent SPT SatSemi I think?: I was HU and went allin with K10 suited-about 12BB so only about 1250- and one of the 'chip leaders' called with 27 off.... yep, even I don't make that call, and yep he hit of course... thankfully I've got seats 1a and 1b so hopefully see you there when you buy in with some of your winnings!
Hope you run well today- maybe see you in tonight's qtr sat for Manc??
after that last hour, were dropping back down. the sets ups were crazy and came all at the same time so bankroll crushing..!! its crazy how poker goes in funny stages but going to take a break for a bit or maybe play MTTs to unwind after that brtual session.
With your K6 hand, I'm taking a deep breath and hitting the call button here, expecting to be shown either 97 or T9.
Given the preceding action in the hand, plus the fact this is vs a decent reg, they're pretty much the only two hands that make sense to me (I'm not sure I've seen any 30nl regs take this kind of line on the river with a merged range frankly). Given how 97 blocks a lot of the possible draws that you may be calling flops and turns with, it would make more sense just to continue leading on the river vs a range that will be more heavily weighted to showdown value but also pretty capped. Therefore I'm hero calling the check/jam and feeling super smug when they show me their T9o .
was my thoughts exactly, i would expect rivered straights not to x/raise as i would snap check SD etc

i do have a decent amount of history with this villain however slightly different dynamics as limped 3way pot etc. was trying to decided he he ever turns made hands into bluffs and toss it up between how far up my range i am etc etc.
Interesting spot with the K6. Think in general people bluff a lot less vs pot bets as they expect to get called more often. If we think he either has 97 or T9 think we should certainly call, especially as he could potentially have all 16 combinations of T9o calling sb for 15p, but probably chucks 97o preflop. Do suspect people are mainly very weighted towards value in this spot, especially vs your sizing. Think fold is fine, could call if think villain is capable of finding bluffs. If he jams fairly quickly I would look to fold as think he would think through more whether or not to bluff vs that sizing, whereas if he has a value jam he knows straight away he's jamming. For the purpose of your challenge in spots you feel indifferent might be better to lean towards the tight option to lower the variance a little bit.
Also think a straight is a pretty reasonable hand to check on river. Your snap check weak showdown hands probably aren't calling a bet anyway, or at least a big one. Straights unblock all your value hands, sets and 2 pair, which would only call vs a bit bet but might bet call off.
I did call and he did have 97o. I was curious to what people thought on mainly the river play not just by me but from villains prospective also. Maybe i just got owned in this spot or just thought i had the hand i needed to bet/call.. Or maybe x/raise river is the best line to at least get one more bet in his mind, although he does block a lot of the straights but as its a limped pot there is all the of combos, just not sure how many of them i actually take a passive line with. Yea agree groggy mate i think for the purpose of the challenge i should take lower variance routes and weight them more to be value heavy. Thanks for feedback from everyone..
after an unexpected couple weeks away from the online tables, I just wanted to give you an update of whats been happening and what ive been up to...
The first week or so, I had no internet and the story around this is fairly comical. Basically my mrs drop in a few hints at me (whilst grinding i might add) to do the front room. Over the last few months, I have been doing the bathroom bedrooms and hallway and next on the list was always to do the front room and then lastly new kitchen etc. Anyway, deep in thought and grinding away I happily replied ''yea of course'', and left it at that.
So the very nxt day I recieved a txt from her which said...
''hi babe, just to let you know I sold the sofa, sold the TV, sold the coffee table and sold the lamps. All being picked up later tonight''
My reply was along the lines of FFS, are you mad.! which probably didnt go down too well seeing as in her mind, shes asked me the night before about doing the work and and also thinks it can be done overnight haha..
anyway we came up with what we wanted to do, went and bought a new sofa (which is still 2 weeks away), new TV which is **** HUGE, 65 inch curved jobby.! new wiring for the TV, spots etc all chased into the wall to hide cables, aswel as moving the phone lines and ariel points, which is why my internet has been down.
The 2nd half of my absence has been me off grinding some live poker, i was thinking about making the trip to play the SPT but laziness kicked in and i stayed more or less local (brighton area). I have some more goals this year to play a lot more live then previous years so I will have to kicked my lazy habits if this is going to be the case. Im due to head up to Nottingham firstly either today or tommorrow but in the mean time back on the grind with this challenge.
Im still keen to carry on with this and would have hoped to be a lot further ahead then i currently am.. I had a small session last last and this morning. Both went well winning 7 buyins at 20nl. so current bankroll £534.16:

So how did the K6 hand play out?
