SPT Structure

chicknMeltchicknMelt Member Posts: 1,159
What are peoples thoughts on the SPT structure, in particular starting with 500bb? (bb = 50 with a 25000 starting stack).

My opinion is that 500bb is too deep. The first couple of levels end up having little meaning. Even winning a 100bb pot is insignificant. At the same time, later on stacks were shallow. A couple of levels should be removed from the start of the tournament and inserted later on to give a little more play later on in the tournament, encourage people to play from the start and probably increase the prizepool since slightly more people will bust by end of late reg.

My proposal would be to remove the 25/50 and 75/150 levels and put in something like a 2.5k/5k and maybe a 7k/14k level.

thoughts?

For most tournaments. I would agree. But not for SPTs.

There are quite a few people who have not played live before-I want them to be able to ease themselves in, and know they are likely to have hours of enjoyment

Fair enough, if thats the reason. It does also allow for longer waiting times before being seated too if you are expecting a large turnout again. Its just not how I'd do it. Guess I'll late reg again... If its possible to reg after the start and get seated before I wither away this time

I'm with phil, the chip stack itself is far too deep for an everyday tournament but the SPT more than just a tournament, it's a time when the sky community can will get together face to face to play poker live poker for a number of hours.

I'm not so concerned about the blind structure, I'm more concerned the payout structure.

This was brought up in this thread: https://community.skypoker.com/discussion/172577/brighton-feedback

I hope that more than 9% of the field are paid this time. As Tikay said in that thread, "I'd like to see 15% of the field paid." I would also like to see around 15% get paid.

Hopefully Sky/Caesars has taken this feedback on-board.

Anyway been looking forward to playing this event. I hope that everyone has a good time, and maybe goes back home a little richer.

I'm not sure it could be changed at this stage anyway, to be honest, but FWIW - not much - I agree with you, & I'll mention it to the appropriate Suits.

If, by chance, it is changed before Manchester, I'll ensure it is made known to everyone at start of play.

I'll also make my views known to the Suits well in advance of the following SPT. It's not a huge thing, but my personal view aligns with yours. Others, of course, may have a different view.
