Disappointing they are not running sats for packages for main and the other tournament like they use to do?
Funny, I was about to post on here this seems like a fantastic idea by Sky and how I would much rather be trying to satty into a Sky only style tournament in Vegas than just the regular WSOP tournaments. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Lots of different avenues to gain a passage compared to previous years too. Well done Sky
Just thought winning a seat a playing in the main event is the poker players dream thing.

Well my first instinct was disappointment with the apparent lack of main event sats. However, after I took a little while to think about it, there are plenty of avenues in the marketplace right now to go for a seat to that. Skypoker are offering something pretty unique and first and foremost, fun here. While the WSOP Main is special, the Little One where most of the packages went is pretty much a turbo ten a penny MTT you can find at least on a monthly basis in the UK (although great cause).
So after a few moments contemplation, I think this is an excellent idea and a big improvement on the package overall. The sats are gonna be hectic.
Best of luck all, might see you guys by the pool. Where it might be raining again for reasons of irony.
Several questions & comments there, so I'll try & gather them together & do in one go. All fair questions & comments, but it's Vegas Baby, & I'd like to remove any negativity before we get up & running. With increasing age, I'm very much inclined to embrace positivity, & steer away from negativity in what is intended to be - & always has been - a fun experience.

Which was exactly my initial reaction. However, just like Tommy, when I thought about it, I realised it's actually a great thing, mostly for the reasons Tommy explained.
The primary reason for the change of tack this year was market research into what players liked & disliked about the Sky Poker Vegas experience. What this emphatically told The Business was that the social/tourist side of Sky Poker in Vegas counted for more than the pure poker experience.
Why is that? Well Sky Poker always make it a +1 thing, & so players bring their wife, husband, Mum, Dad, Son, Daughter, best friend or whatever. Most of these have never played poker in their life, but relish the Vegas tourist thing. So that's been addressed.
"Just thought winning a seat a playing in the main event is the poker players dream thing."
Absolutely, I could not agree more.
Looking back down the years, Sky Poker have qualified around 35 or 40 players for "The Big One". How many have cashed for decent money? My memory might be failing me (might?), but I can only recall @lolufold , @kidgirlgy & @railtard11 . Apologies to those who I forgot, but there can't be more than 1 or 2.
This year, we know for sure that 9 players will come back having cashed in Vegas. They can dine out on "Yeah, I've cashed in Vegas" for the rest of their life.
And for most Sky Poker qualifiers - 90% or so? - they'll only visit Vegas once in their whole life. They can dine out & chirp endlessly on "yeah, I've cashed in Vegas" for the rest of their life. (See @Essexphil ).
The money stays in the Sky Poker community, too, so that's a good thing for the site ecology.
As in previous years, Sky Poker will look after their players & +1's in Vegas better than any other site imo. As Carly sung, nobody does it better.
I don't actually recall a single player saying that the Sky Poker experience in Vegas was bad, & over the years, Sky Poker must have taken the best part of 300 players to Vegas.
This year will be no different - there will be 2 or 3 members of the Sky Poker Team - names & faces you are familiar with if you read the forum - on hand to make sure it's a great experience. Whether you go for the poker, touristy stuff, night clubbing, Spearmint-ing, Sky Poker will have someone there who knows the ropes.
Good Morning Spt Vegas - Awesome Just one question , Any chance you can change the dates to April 22nd to coincide with my stay at The Venetian please 🤡 Have a great day.
Great news that Sky are prepared to continue to invest in this great competition- so looking forward to trying to qualify and chatting with online friends old and new!

That's the spirit Prof, let's all try to enjoy the experience, win or lose.
I think this is a great idea. Whilst playing a WSOP event is many poker players dream, there is nothing to stop players playing other events while they are out there, as I'm sure some will.
It means that Sky players and their partners/guests can plan ahead for the other days they are there rather than have to potentially leave 3 days or more free.
Also good news for the Sky staff who will be there (are you going Tikay?) as it means they will not be working very long hours just to keep the updates coming in.
I'm also sure that being one of 50 odd Sky players in the room will be a lot more enjoyable than one of thousands in an event. OK so the potential winning are not as big but there is more to Vegas than just poker/gambling.

You have lost me!<</b>/blockquote>
Trust me , spend 7 days in Vegas with a partner who 'doesn't get' poker and hates gambling and you have to find other things to do!
Will be nearly impossible for me to play this SPT as it's the same week I get back from 3 weeks away - and I'm sure my job would like to see me for a little while at least.... but it's still very very very very very tempting to try!
I wish everyone the best of luck in qualifying for it as I know it will be a fab event.
Is it just 15 seats available by the satellite route and then 35 other seats to be won by prize draw? or special tourney for priority members?

I already know I can't play the event if I win, because I have exams that week What happens if I bink a package - Am I allowed to not go and keep the money given for travel expenses? If not, would I 'swap' with second place and get the £500 and they get the package, or would I just have to forfeit the package and get nothing?
Watch this be the one prize draw that I actually win in my entire life obvs. #RunLikePingu

No, the T & C's stat you have to first sign a waiver, see T & C #21;
20. As a condition of receiving the prizes under this promotion all winner's will be required to sign a waiver governing among other things: their use of the prize monies for the stated purposes only.......
So my understanding is that before you receive the £1,000 that you could use to travel to Vegas, you have to sign a waiver agreeing to go.
The packages are also non-transferable, & cannot be sold for cash, according to the T & C's.
I'm not sure what would happen if you won a package via "Las Vegas Giveaway" & declined - I suppose it's possible they may "bump" you down to 2nd & you get the £500 & the 2nd gets the Package. That's not official though, that's just my take.

Ain't it a great time to be alive?
Satellites for SPT Las Vegas
Just so you know, there is now a "Vegas" tab in the Tourney Lobby, that's the quickest route to see what's what as things progress.
It is starting to populate now, & on Monday, the Micros, Quarters etc will spawn.
Exciting times.

Sadly it ever so slightly clashes with a holiday in Italy I have in June, but if anyone can find a flight from Naples to Las Vegas, its me
