Mini UKOPS, Review of Day TWO

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 172,210

A very good Friday morning to you all.

Yesterday was another day of drama in sport, some good, some bad, some tragic.

The Arsenal thumped 4 past those nasty Russians, UFC bloke Conor McGregor went over the top with a publicity stunt & got himself arrested by the NYPD, Sergio Garcia, reigning Masters champion, somehow plonked 5 balls in the water at one hole in running up a 13, all of which paled into insignificance when news came though that Eric Bristow had died.

Bristow transformed Darts into a serious money making machine for promoters, players & bookmaking industry. It's a game which, to my mind, has now been ruined by alcohol & unruly crowds, & I've completely ceased to watch, but none of that is Eric's doing.

He was just 60 years old, & was at the Premier League Darts doing hospitality, when he suffered a heart attack & dropped down dead. In fact, it's a wonderful way to die I suppose. Still very sad.

RIP Eric.

If we can learn anything from Eric's early passing, it's quit those cigarettes. Now.

So, to the matter in hand, Day 2 of Mini UKOPS.

The numbers on Day 1 were not great, and maybe the Liverpool Man City game did not help, but Day 2 numbers were much better.

OK, let's get on with it & take a light-hearted look at Mini UKOPS Day 2, & see who got the cake.

Mini UKOPS 05, 6.30pm Thursday, £2.20 entry £500 Guaranteed Bounty Hunter

Just 185 turned up for this, so a bit of added value was on the table.

If you have been paying attention, you'll recall that on Day 1, the opening event ended heads up between @Boxster and @Patrigo1. A day later, and in an 185 runner field, the same 2 players finished 184th & 183rd. Gotta love the way poker cuts us down to size.

    Departing in 33rd & 32nd positions, doubtless holding hands, were @RogueCell and @Dollie, with @HOLLYWHIT in 25th.

The very good @brinna12 was 19th, the very bad @hhyftrftdr was 15th, @neenio 14th, & another Mini UKOPS cash for @Ludovician in 8th.

Talking of @ lotsofconsonants aka @hhyftrftdr I saw this yesterday & thought he'd appreciate it. Good, eh?

    image

    6th was @Willow128, then @scousestar, with shiny spinning star man @nagrom 4th.

    Hurrrah for @boo1966 in 3rd, with @CJLyth57 a fine runner-up.

An oddity about the winner, @benmarksoh, is that until yesterday he had not played an MTT on Sky Poker for over 14 months, but then he suddenly popped up & won a Mini UKOPS. Welcome back @benmarksoh

Mini UKOPS 06, 7.30pm Thursday, £5.50 entry £1,500 Guaranteed Bounty Hunter

A good turnout for this, 305 all told, though in 303rd I guess @DONATE2ME rather wished he'd chosen a different alias.

@MADPATDOTC must have done well as despite exiting 293rd of 305, managed to take a bounty.

@benmarksoh who was on his way to winning the opener departed 38th this time, with @conorshay managing 31st despite connection problems and @GREGHOGG 29th, 2 spots behind @day4eire76.

    22nd was @lyonsbob06 and @The_eggs scrambled into 18th.

In 6th was the very profitable @johnny_e, with @DANIELJW 5th and @Telmison74 having an overdue change of fortune in 4th, ditto @MITCH38 in 3rd.

Heads up it was @LARSON7 v @TamL, with the latter eventually prevailing and collecting the fat end of £300.

Mini UKOPS 07, 8.30pm Thursday, £11.00 entry £2,500 Guaranteed Freezeout

The only non Bounty Hunter of the evening and it got across the Guarantee line with a few to spare as befits the evening's Mini UKOPS Main.

Unusually early exits from @TheDart, @Duesenberg and @mkgunner.

    Min cashes for @loololollo, @edrich and @lyonsbob06, not far behind @LmfaoAllin in 26th & @memfno in 23rd.

@Boxster cruised into 18th, driving this presumably - this is his actual car, as he waited to board the Ferry to Spain. MBN, WAL etc.

    @68Trebor ran 14th, with @cpfc_2010 11th.

I received a lovely PM overnight from @MStott (will reply later, Mark), & he finished a fine 10th, just behind @thisltedu 9th and the consistent @AKAscotty who final table bubbled.

    In 6th was @MrDirk, then @Gloves and @evansp.

On the foot of the podium was @rabdeniro, with the abrasively aliased @ARROGANT runner-up, though I'm sure he is all sweetness and light really.

Don't think too many would argue* that the winner, @nagrom, can lay reasonable claim to be the best player in the tourney. **

    * Oh yes they would

    ** May not be true.

Mini UKOPS 08, 9.30pm Thursday, £3.30 entry £1,500 Guaranteed Turbo Rebuy Bounty Hunter

A £3.30 Turbo Rebuy Bounty Hunter? You gotta be kidding me. Carnage guaranteed, and Mini UKOPS 01 winner @Patrigo1 was having a bad night, exiting almost before it begun in 254th.

38th was @FATJIM, not to be confused with @FatEssexPhil, and @engy was 27th.

Another little cash for @AKAscotty just behind @Arrogant with @GREGSTER 17th, and the ever consistent @Tsaaaar 14th.

Good final for this one, with @MCCAFF first to depart the scene, followed by the uber-talented @ozzieowen in 5th.

4th was @JGIBBRFC, anyone know what those initials stand for? Could be a Rugby Club I suppose, but not one I can locate via our friend Dr Google.

3rd place went to super hotshoe @heddoh18, and it was a great effort by @Glenelg in the runner-up berth.

I don't know a deal about the winner except that he's been here for 7 years or more, so congrats go to @tinytellah.

    Right, I'm done.

If you found that a tough read, I'm not surprised, as it was a tough write, as I don't know too many of those players, but never mind, we gave it a bash.

    Good luck tonight.

    Oh, I nearly forgot;

Good review (as ever) Tikay. I know that going from doing the real deal (with the big names and big prizes) to doing the significantly smaller affair this week (with fewer of the big names and more modest prizes) probably feels like performing at the 02 Arena and then doing a gig at The Ship Tavern, but myself (and the rest of The Ship Tavern rabble) appreciate your efforts in doing these mini UKOPS reviews. To be fair there have still been a number of big Sky names knocking about in these but it's nice to see a new name coming in and getting a result or a long time low stakes stalwart of the site getting a nice score and some recognition.

Thanks again for your time and efforts.

You might feel like it's not your best work, but I think you are being hard on yourself and trust me, it is appreciated. ☺

It's appreciated by an amateur like me, and maybe if I'm lucky (although recent form wouldn't indicate it) I might fluke a final table and get a mention. :o>:)

Will you be at the big game tomorrow then? Should be quite a game, and you might just catch Liverpool on the rebound after they thrashed City in the week, and have one eye on Tuesday's 2nd leg.
  • ToffeeandyToffeeandy Member Posts: 934
Na, I live in Livingston up in Scotland so don't get the chance to get to many games, a golf obsession and a 2 year old daughter also don't leave much time to get down there. I think we have a decent chance, Salah might be out injured and as they're virtually guaranteed top 4, and have the 2nd leg on Tuesday, they might, just might, take their eye of tomorrow's game.......but then it's a derby and our recent derby record is poor to say the least.

Well my indifferent luck continued, 49th in the half 7 game (40 cashed) then when sitting 26/31 in the 830 this was my exit hand to one of your old friends, a friendlier river would have left me approx. 10th......

I know that feeling @Toffeeandy, as a fellow blue.
I hate the derby, especially when we will probably get beat by a second rate reserve team.

    Oh yeah, mini UKOPS review.
    Passable.
