I'm a huge fan of his too. He took over a team in turmoil, and soon created one of the best sides in English football history.
He then managed to create a worthy (if slightly lesser) team while they were without a ground, and then while paying for a new one.
Recent results have dipped, but he certainly did not deserve the extent of "fan" abuse that he has had in the last 2-3 years.
Probably Arsenal's 2nd-greatest manager. ahead of the (overrated) George Graham and (underrated) Bertie Mee, it is only Herbert Chapman who (just) ranks above him.
The next appointment will be crucial-it may have been "time to go" but I suspect that the next Manager will not produce a tenth of what M Wenger has achieved. He deserves his "cheesy smile" and I wish him well.
He has been a great manager however I think in recent times results haven't been good enough. When you have had instability at other clubs with management changes a club the size of Arsenal should of done more. I am not sure what the tone from the top was like and how it effected the club. Seems the mentality was top 4 is all that is needed and I don't think players were striving to be the absolute best they could be. At a club like Arsenal the players should fear for their place in the team next year if they only get 4th.
He will go down as a legend of the club. I do worry for the club for the next couple of seasons while they transition, a bit like happened at Man United.
