What exactly has Britain done for Hamilton. The route from karting through to F1 isn't subsidised. Its one that's only trodden by those who have prodigious talent and serious private funding and sponsorship.

It would seem that some are implying that Hamilton owes Britain. IMO he owes the country nowt and if I made 50 million a year I'd want to pay 40 % instead of 50% or even 35% instead of 40%.

Perhaps instead of targeting the successful who've made something of themselves the keyboard warriors might be better bashing those who have no skill no talent no work ethic but know every trick and twist of the benefit system and who cost us more in a week than the Lewis Hamiltons would pay in a lifetime.

Oh and before I get a bagging from the Liberal left, the government should raise the minimum wage to £10p.h, ban all zero hours contracts and ensure that Employers offer real jobs with proper holidays, sickpay and benefits.

Oh one final point. lets get the game of poker recognised by the Government as a game of skill and therefore put it outside of untaxed gambling winnings and all pay tax on our live and online winnings. After all we wouldn't want to deprive the taxman of his cut would we.

He had some very nice bits and pieces in the back of his car from Brackley today - At least from the POV of me wanting someone not called Lewis Hamilton to win the title this year ;)

(Unpopular opinion: Bottas has been the better Merc driver this season and should be leading the WDC.)

If we are going to pay tax on our winnings, does that mean we can offset any losses?

If we are net losers, can we claim tax back?

I’m so proud of our Boys & to be honest, the whole country. I’ve been inspired by the spirit of our people all coming together during this time. It’s what makes me so proud to be British. Let’s hold on to that fighting spirit & stand tall & United. It will come home one day! 🙌🏾

Lewis Hamilton has come under fire after he referred to his hometown of Stevenage as "the slums" during the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year show.
Stevenage Borough Council leader Sharon Taylor said people from the Hertfordshire town had been left "very offended" by the five-time Formula 1 champion's remark
