Why is it when you get down to the final 4 players and 1 player is away from the table the others continue to play on instead of blinding the away play out?

Yeah it can be really frustrating. They've every right to play on of course and we can expect no favours. Generally if it's regs left at this stage then it doesn't tend to happen as common sense prevails. Certainly don't suggest anything in chat.

Jac35 just about covers it. On Stars they used to suspend the chat when there were 8 left in the 10 player DYM.
I would add a few more things that could also be in play here;
The player could be very new to the format, and not realise the significance of an away player on the bubble of a DYM.
Away players are not always away for good. Continuing to play could put the player in a good position if the away player returns, when the other two players are assuming they won't and just folding.
Some players will just do this to get under your skin. If you have had previous acrimonious chat box exchanges with them, then it makes this more likely.
Some players just can't fold a big pocket pair pre-flop even if it makes sense to do so.
