Who, of all the people in the world, dead or alive, is your ultimate hero?

And the exact opposite, the person you'd least like to meet?

Mine was the self proclaimed (though factually inaccurate given his upbringing) working class hero - John Lennon.

The person I'd least like to meet is the Grim Reaper ;-) or if that's a silly answer then I don't know why but I've always found Scott Seiver to be really annoying - nice problem to have if I ever meet him on a table!

    ^^^^

2 great answers there, exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for.

Have to say, the Scott Seiver answer both surprised me & made me laugh hard. Fair to say he's fearfully smug & full of false self-entitlement, but I'm not sure he'd be top of my list.

At school i learned about Leonard Cheshire and he was my first hero
Poker wise it’s a bit obvious but i’d say Stu Ungar.

Seiver is a great shout. I don’t think i’d enjoy the company of Vanessa Selbst much either.
Maybe not the worst person in the world but Anneka Rice really tilts me.

An unexpected reply, but certainly deserving.

Anneka Rice? Ha. Interesting shout. And yes, it's surprising how many celebs grate on us so much. John Inverdale would be on my "really can't stand him" list.

I was watching a poker video and saw some player win a big hand , the hand was offered to run again, the player declined. I saw a total lack of greed on his face. I looked him up, it turns out, he donates all his poker winnings to charity. Barry Greenstein.

Biggest dislike, Graham Norton, always looking for cheap laughs with sexual innuendos.

Not sure I'd agree on Barry Greenstein, but I'm 100% with you on Graham Norton. Ugh. The BBC pay him a fortune, too.

TK thats a tough one, but for my choice to have an hour with the late Robin Williams,
i think 1 hr would be the max he could stand my laughter for.
Person not to meet....think ive already met a few i wish i had never met ,
and just to stay on your good side i will say Maggie Thatcher.

Sadly not the case as Mr Chapman cowardly shot him 4 times in the back - his last words were allegedly 'I,m shot. I,m shot'' but in any case all too sad for words

Life all time hero - Kenny Dalglish. I adored him as a kid and he hasn't disappointed me in any way as an adult either.

Least like to meet? Not sure, as there are some horrendous people that I would still like to meet so I could express my dislike for them. I'll answer it as if the question is who is my lifetime most disliked person.

That would undoubtedly be Margaret Thatcher. I'm just about old enough to remember the carnage she created in the 80's that still has dreadful effects on modern society. I remember being at a football match in Yorkshire when a false report went around the ground that she had finally died. The reaction in the ground was one of undiluted joy. When it came about that she wasn't actually dead, people all around me were very disappointed.

My lifetime poker hero would be Doyle Brunson. Sure, he's probably a daft old racist with some questionable political views but he's stood the test of time better than anyone else in the game and showed that being a nit is a perfectly acceptable way to make the game pay.

The person I like least in poker would probably be someone like Justin Bonomo. He comes across like a really smug git on TV and often takes the moral high ground despite being a confirmed cheat in the early part of his career.

What has Barry Greenstein done? As far as I am aware he has gave $10 million to charity and listening to a podcast he was on he clearly cares deeply about his family and people less fortunate than him.

Is there something I am missing?

I always though Scott came across as arrogant and a bit poorly on footage I'd seen of him at the tables, but he seemed like a decent enough guy when I met him in Vegas this year. A group of us went to a random bar on Fremont street that was deceptively big. It looked rather small from the front but had a huge outside area at the back. There was an area to play beanbag toss, a giant chess set and an area for ball games. By chance Seiver and some of his friends, including Dan Smith, Justin Bonomo and some other poker names were there. I was close to negotiating a drunken 'soccer' game with Scott, that would be between some fellow sky poker players and him and his friends when the bouncer confiscated the ball. I think they left shortly after, but Scott was nice enough. Dan Smith, who has played chess to a high level even railed a sky poker chess match between @24Caliber and @rspca12, nodding approvingly at some of the moves that were made from 24Caliber (Sorry Chris).
