Have never played live poker only online but was thinking of going to SPT Glasgow if I can win a seat or get a direct buy in from casino . Would people be understanding of fact I have never played live before or should I give it a miss . I live up by Loch Ness , there are no casinos up here closest one is 160 miles away so can't go anywhere for live practice .Any advice would be much appreciated .

Try to get there early to get a feel of the venue. Make sure you know what table and seat you are at well before the event starts. Have a couple of social drinks to chill out beforehand if you need them.
Live is no real difference than playing on line....you have the same starting stack as everyone else and two cards like them aswell. Try to sit back for the first couple of orbits and get used to handling the chips/knowing they value etc. Look out for the more 'experienced' player on the table who will try to bully you off pots if they sense weakness in your play. If in doubt on any action, ie..raise size, your turn to act etc, ask the dealer for confirmation.
Above all, try to use the 1st time playing live as a stepping stone to gain more confidence to use for the next time you play live.
Remember to ENJOY it aswell.
People will be very understanding of someone playing live for the first time.
Also at the SPT Glasgow there will be a lot of the Sky staff there who no doubt would be very helpful, if you had any questions or there was something you were unsure of.
Players will also be very helpful. If at the table there is anything you are unsure about just ask the dealer.
So most certainly get down for the weekend.
Some great advice there @Dean5
Many players have attended an SPT as their "Live poker" debut, & I doubt any of them have regretted it.
Try & get a seat, come along, & if in doubt when you get there, come see me & I'll try to find a friendly face on your table to help you.
