Thoughts on how I played the hand if it was a good or bad fold.

Really awkward situation postflop and tough one to analyse properly given how unconventional villain's line is. The type of hands people flat in this spot varies quite a lot depending on how bad the opponent is. Also the quality of hands people min click on the flop varies. His line feels kind of consistent with how a weaker player might play a set, clicking it on the flop to 'keep you in' and then continuing to bet the turn because in their head they don't believe you have them beat and want to keep being aggressive, maybe they are a bit worried so don't want to bet too big (hence less than half pot) but at the same time don't want to let you see a river and have another straight card come off for free. I would feel happy just folding river as played vs almost all players. Flop doesn't feel amazing and turn feels very borderline as it is, in fact if you folded turn in this hand I'd probably say it was a reasonable laydown vs the population on sky. Someone would have to be very inventive to find a bluff on this runout. Wouldn't even surprise me if some weaker players clicked hands like 55 or 66 on the flop because in their heads they want to to 'charge you when you have Ace King' , so makes it feel even nicer to fold. I don't think your ahead nearly enough to call river and I don't think it's close.

Hi Groggy thanks for your response always respect your views :. This is why I found the line on the flop odd as I regard the villain to be a solid reg. Initially i thought they had either 55 or 78 and i just felt i was never ahead by the river. I am glad my thoughts were not to far away from yours. The villain did take this line again a few times further on the final table but without betting the turn and it was a bluff, in this instance i think it was a fold. I ended up coming second so I cant complain.

i think your looking to much into it and giving the villian to much credit i think he had the 8 with a high kicker i would of called him all in on the flop and if he was chasing a stright then he would of had to pay all depends on chips somtimes we talk our selfs out of it and somtimes you just have to have the balls i cant really say what the chip count was and if 12k raise was high or not for him to be calling with 78 maybe 55 or 66 yh but then he would of had to call an all in to see the 6 turn over personally im calling all in and taking the pot down there and then i wanna get paid because we see it too many times were ur winning the flop but by the river card were f u c k e d

Without reads vs the field, gf in imo. Flop you have to call. He either has you beat (56, 78, sets) or he's finding out if his a8s a7s is good. When he bets turn its not great, but with open ender and still possibly the best hand I think you have to call or you're just going to get exploited. River you have terrible card removal holding 99 - you want him to be bluffing with hands like 910, A9s with the bdfd. So yeah, I like your play.

It's certainly a really interesting line taken by your opponent.

FG analysis is really spot on like describing how this player will play their nutted hands this way.

Agree with DT and FG about folding the river.

The turn looks like we have to call given the great price we are receiving.

Also we are quite deep versus opponent, and i'd be quite confident we are getting paid off reasonable well if we river a 5 or 10 given how he's played the rest of the hand.
