enjoying the silver freezeouts, and makes me wonder why not so many entries in these, i presume the top players have there reasons which i hope they can explain, presuming its something to do with odds or chance which makes the bh's rebuys more viable ?
I played a few of the podium series events for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised to find that some of the regular tourneys in the schedule had modified structures - for example both the 18:30 £5.50bh and the 7 at 7 were altered to having 150bb starting stacks.
One of my biggest criticisms of the Sky MTT schedule is that it is incredibly samey - particularly in games that are £11 or less to buy-in to. I'd love to see these new structures remain in place after the series has finished. I would undoubtedly play more tourneys moving forward if so. I'm also dead chuffed to see some more regular freezeouts available, although I won't hold out much hope for those sticking around!
Finally, I can now understand why I haven't seen @splashies at the cash tables for a while. Impressive stuff Sir!
exactly my point tikay, i was just wondering why, was looking for someone to explain why they prefer playing bh/s/ rebuys , is it an odds thing, has to be something to do with money im presuming ,and the money they can generate , or is it something as simple as people like to have more than 1 chance, i know it can be frustrating playing your A game and getting a badbeat and then out but that happens once rebuy period is over , just wanting some insight into a top players thinking on this ?
Hi guys, my take on it for what it's worth is as follows.
1) The variance in Bounty Hunters is much less. 2) They are more fun. (imo) 3) Not everyone plays them as optimally as they should, ie isolating too wide, or not wide enough etc, which adds another edge that can potentially be exploited. 4) A lot more players get some form of return from the MTT, rather than just those that finish in the top 10%.
SkyPoker has led the way with Bounty Hunters for many years, and it took the other sites a long time to catch on.
My personal favourite format is Bounty Hunters without rebuys or re-entires, but I know other guys like the re-entry/rebuy dynamic.
If it's a straight BH without rebuys/re-entries then it has to be, by default a level playing field, however it seems that people want bigger guarantees and the rebuy/re-entries help to achieve this, so it's the ying and the yang.
I do think re-entries favour those with more bankroll, which is not always ideal. One other thing is that now there is no rake on re-entries/add ons etc, the net rake percentage effectively is less than freeze outs, which is another reason people like them.
I don't think (Sky) James will mind if I mention this, as it's quite telling. And remember, I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm just replying to questions & keeping it real.
Here's a list of the Bronze Events on Wednesday - 5 were Bounty Hunters, & 1 was a Freezeout. Look how many each event got......
This debate happens repeatedly and the numbers are always like noted above. There is room for freezeouts/deepstacks on the site (as happened with the mega stack) but until we get antes I cant see them being all that popular and even then I think they will always struggle compared to bh. The majority of people want action when they play so faster structure and bh are always going to get more runners. Also some people will look at how much ftw/guarantees so even more traffic goes to the more popular games.

Interesting that 2 players mention Freezeouts.
In the Bronze League last night, the number of runners in the Freezeout, compared to similarly priced BH's, was incredibly low.
@conorshay1
I honestly don't know the reason other than the usual stuff - BH's are (said to be) more exciting, etc.
1) The variance in Bounty Hunters is much less.
2) They are more fun. (imo)
3) Not everyone plays them as optimally as they should, ie isolating too wide, or not wide enough etc, which adds another edge that can potentially be exploited.
4) A lot more players get some form of return from the MTT, rather than just those that finish in the top 10%.

Morning guys.
My own position on this is neither here nor there, but I wanted to reply to the comments by 2 players about freezeouts.
The replies by Graham & The Bates both make perfect sense, as do those in favour of freezeouts.
It was odd that the subject was raised on thread yesterday, as Sky James & myself were discussing it yesterday morning.
Bronze £1,000 Bounty Hunter 6:30pm £5.50 £1,000 228 players
Bronze £1,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter 7:00pm £7.70 £1,000 154 players
Bronze £500 Freezeout 7:30pm £5.50 £500 65 players
Bronze £750 Bounty Hunter 8:00pm £2.20 £750 321 players
Bronze £2,500 Bounty Hunter 8:30pm £5.50 £2,500 358 players
Bronze £1,500 Rebuy Bounty Hunter 9:30pm £3.30 £1,500 173 players
That's an irrelevant sample size, but I suspect it would be confirmed over a larger sample.
It's interesting, isn't it?
Any idea when the tables for day 4 will be available?
(Need to see how far behind Mr Bates I am)
I've been F5-ing all afternoon, but no sign of them yet.
I've mentioned it to the Office, but I'm 100% sure* they have it all in hand.
* Plucked from thin air, but almost certain. Probably.
I now gather the Leaderboards are "imminent".
