Would you like to be able to chat in the lobby before the start of a game?

If you're like me and working out your outs, equity, value bets, pot odds, position, range of other players, putting players on a hand , etc then like me your too busy to chat casually to other players. How about being able to chat in the lobby before a game?

I have a couple of doubts about this.

I think more and more people are multitabling than ever before nowadays, so less and less people would use such a function because they have other stuff going on most of the time.

Also how would you decide who can and can't chat in the pregame lobby? The kind of players this would be aimed at are more likely to enter closer to the start of a tournament, during late reg, or via a satellite IMO.

You then have to consider where it stacks up on Sky's list of priorities for the site - I think something like this would be a nice luxury to have rather than being essential.

OTOH, if you made it so that players could use this feature not only pregame but during the game too, then it could function as a global chat for people playing the tournament to use. I think that could work, particularly as you get a non chatty table more often than not and I know that can be disappointing for recs sometimes. I've actually seen something like that on Virgin Games where all the people punting on slots can chat to each other, everyone in the Poker tournament can chat to each other etc, and they have a bingo style chat host/moderator in the chat to keep the chat friendly and get really cringey/dull small talk going when the chat is dead.

So I've ticked the "Don't know" box on the poll - It really comes down to how it's implemented as much as anything.

I think not, I used to belong to a site that had this facility, there was a stream of trash talk, peppered with people asking for loans or offering BJs to your grans uncle.

I voted yes just because I like to be different. Please can we make sure this doesn't become the next Brexit debate/debacle though.

I voted no, play too many tables to think about chatting in lobby before a game.

I am not sure why sky would want people chatting in the lobby and not playing. The forum allows people to discuss subjects and there is the PM function for people to send messages that way.

Sorry, I should have made it clear that I was actually asking on behalf of an elderly female friend.

Ahh, there you are, look , about that money, I tried to pay it back, my account got hacked and the hacker colluded, so I got banned and they kept your money.

@EvilPingu I put "don't know" in as a joke! You've put a lot more thought into than I did so fair doos to you though.

@mumsie I agree with you on the "trash talk" bit, a good filter and a moderator would be needed.

@K0BAYASHl It doesn't interest or effect you so why bother voting no. I'm surprised you had enough time to vote!

@ Mattbates It's just supposed to be pre-game, you know, while you're waiting for a game to start, no access while playing, why would you want that anyway as we already have an in game chat box.

It wouldn't be hard to implement just copy and paste the code into the lobby window. ( ok, maybe a bit harder than C&P but not much.)

I think, (not being offended by rude keyboard warriors, delighted by offers of BJs and amused by "It's fixed" etc) that it would be a sociable thing to implement. Imagine going to a live event and everyone just standing around staring at their feet before the tournament starts. Of course, at a live event you couldn't hide behind the anonymity of you moniker and throw tantrums about bad beats without getting thrown out unless you were Phil Hellamouth.

Anyway, let's get back to discussing Brexit! You know you want too.

If you don't want people to vote "no" then why put the option there to vote "no"?

    So arrogant and rude.

I made it anonymous for a reason...

If you're going to say you voted against something that doesn't affect you, that you're not interested in, then expect to be questioned on your motives/logic.

Resorting to name calling is a tad defensive, don't you think? I'll put this one down to you having a bad day. No offence was intended so chill out.

Don't be so patronising then when someone who doesn't mind not being anonymous gives their opinion on why they voted what they did.

Why did you not single Enut out for explaining what he voted for and why? because he is agreeing with you?

    No further questions your honour.

Okay I get it, you feel singled out. You're a Millennial, right?
