UKOPS starts tonight, so just a brief update today, & we start with the Main, won by
@leftarmove , who I’m not familiar with, but some interesting finalists including
@BlairReid (2nd) who seems to be playing here more of late & doing very well,
@GlencoeLad 4th &
@Brrrrr 5th, well done George & Pete.
@miniman88 , also doing well of late, was 9th with
@p_blase 17th.
Decent night for
@MattBates with 2 wins – the 92 runner BH @ 20.15 (£254) plus the 70 runner Midnight Express (£322). Once he had totted up all his other entries he lost less than £700 on the night.
Not to be outdone in the Battle of the Kids,
@FeelGroggy won the 22.30 Quickdraw for £561. That’s a real hot one, all the Big Boys take their chance, it’s like a Who’s Who of Hotshots. Dog Bloke, prepping for his UKOPS challenge v Groggs, was down in 24th.
Comments
In sport, Arsenal won their 11th straight game, & victory tasted even better after north London rivals Spurs had a shocker the previous night & almost certainly kissed goodbye to their CL chances this season. Manager Pochettino will very likely move to Real Madrid at season’s end too. Make a note of that, you heard it here first.
In lower league Football, Leeds won again, as did Derby.
Was really interested to see the feedback on Baseball the other day. First up, in the World Series, Boston Red Sox now lead 2-0 after beating Dodgers 4-2 in Game 2.
As many know, Oakland Raiders NFL team are moving across to Vegas in 2020, at a super new Stadium. NFL Teams only play 8 home games per year in the regular season, so the economics are a bit odd.
Not so in Baseball where the Season consists of 162 games, so 81 home games, all condensed into just 7 months. And the relevance of that boring waffle? Well rumour has it that a new Baseball Park (they don’t have “grounds” or “Stadiums”, they have ball parks) is to be constructed in Las Vegas. And where in Las Vegas exactly?
Yup, the Rio Hotel, current home to the WSOP, will be demolished and a new ball park built there. It’s perfectly located, right by I-15, & with all that space for car parking.
Word is, the WSOP will move across to a new Convention Centre on the Strip, opposite Caesars. Few will mourn the loss of The Rio, though I will, I really love that place.
It’s all just rumour of course.
Meanwhile, in the world of Online Poker, this photo caused a stir on 2+2 & caused a right rumpus.
Anyone know what's going off here, & why so many got uppity?
GL in your UKOPS battle with Groggs. Sort of reminds me of Man City v Burnley.
If so, BitB are a stable run by world class players who back other players and coach them. I think the implication here is that if they're now all playing together from a setup like this, who are you really playing against? The quite good low stakes reg who managed to make the big final table? Or since the start of the final table has he suddenly started playing coincidentally like Pads/European/Elmerix..?
A) Bates, TommyD & co preparing for the UKOPS onslaught later?
b) Anything to do with the BRS & Partypoker 'scandal' that is breaking? (only heard snippets, so unsure of the full story)
C) The Sky Poker forum team trying to keep up with the Brexit/TR threads?
D) The worldwide RNG team fixing the rivers on all poker sites?
E) Something else?
Finally.
Yesterday, a French chap who goes by the nick "Spider-Man" climbed London's Heron Tower.
First, imagine you are the head of the Emergency Services on duty yesterday in London.
Now imagine Spiderman suddenly got stuck, & rung 999 asking to be rescued.
What would you have liked to say to him?
