    Same question as for Glasgow.

    What is the situation if you win 2 tickets here but don't use the 2nd? Can it be carried forward to one of the next SPT's?

    Thanks

    Hi mate,

    Think T & C #4 from the linked Promo Page covers that?

    4. If a player wins multiple seats for the SPT Grand Final and does not use them all when playing the event, the value of the unused seat or seats may be used at any future SPT event. (2019 schedule TBD

    Does that answer the Q?

    Hi Tikay

    As I venture down to Manchester 235 poker room once a month, I was just on their website to check out the date for the live satellite for the SPT Grand final. You might want to speak to Doug (or one of his team) as the casino website is saying it's a "Button ante"

    (from the webpage)......

    Friday 30 November: Day 1A
    £100,000 GTD; £500+50 Buy-in;
    Button ante
    Further details TBC

    Saturday 1 December: Day 1B
    £100,000 GTD; £500+50 Buy-in;
    Button ante
    Further details TBC

    Sunday 2 December: Day 2
    £100,000 GTD; Further details TBC
    Button ante

    @TheSaw,

    Thanks for letting us know.

    I'll try to get this clarified tomorrow or Monday.

    I'll obviously keep this thread informed as to the outcome, too.

    Big Blind ante is a bit harsh imo.

    Say you have 9BB's late stages and you are on BB, you almost have to call any two if you already have 2BB's in. You would be putting 7BB's into a total pot of 18.5BB's where as 1BB in and you can fold your 72 as normal.

    Just my opinion of course.

    Button/BB Ante is one of those things that really seems to polarise views.

    Fact is, it's the same for everyone, so really it does not matter. (IMO).

    However, it's rather embarrassing that there is confusion as to what it will be. Hopefully, this will be cleared up in the next 24 hours or so.

    Once it's clarified, it will be on this thread.

    But there is ALWAYS a BB player and not always a button player. This hapened on various occassions at Gentings where a player has been knocked out and the next hand it becomes a dead button....Gentings ruled that no button ante can be posted. So, in these instances the player that wins that hand actually loses out getting the ante chips.

    Yes it seems harsh that the BB pays the ante as well, but you would have been paying the same amount per orbit anyway.

    If you are short stacked on the BB and the Button is around the same stack as you, with a button ante it does give them more incentive to shove on your BB if it's folded to them, whereas a tighter player may not have shoved if they had not paid the ante (even though they should).

    There are reasons for and against, but for me, having been in tournies where more than once there has been been no ante in play because the player has been knocked out, then I prefer a BB ante format.

    Hi again.

    I have checked with the Office, & I'm assured that it will be BB Ante, as per the Sky Poker promo page.

    The Manchester 235 website has now been amended & confirms it will be BB Ante.

    Hi Tony,
    Just wanted to ask, is buy in available at the venue, as it has been for all the other SPT events?
    I am really bad at satellites, I like many others run into Matt, Rose and Phil during the quarters and semis, so I may well need to buy in direct.
    I hope the answer is yes as I have already booked accommodation and rail tickets.

    I also wanted to ask, at the risk of sounding stupid, what, if any difference , does playing eight handed and having just a BB ante make?.
    As a pure recreational player, I could do with any insight if I am missing something obvious.

    Hi again Nick.

    I've never played with a BB Ante,so I can't really help on that, though I'm sure several of the better MTT players will come along shortly and reply.

    As to 8 handed as opposed to 9 or 10 handed, it just means we can widen our ranges, and we have to be a little more active. Again, I'm sure far better players will be along in a bit to offer better advice.

    Yes that is a valid argument. I guess they could revert to the old way (all put a bit in) when there is a dead button, but then it all gets a bit complex.

    The aim is primarily to save time when playing live and even out the anti/big blind ratio.

    So I guess in light of your argument of a dead button, a BB ante does make sense.

    Hi Nick, it's mainly to save time. Say normally the aniti is 25 when the BB is 200. Instead of everyone putting in 25 each time, the BB just puts in 200 extra (so effectively is putting in 25 for everyone.) It just speeds the game up, as people often need reminding to post their antes each time and the dealer has to collect them all etc.
