What happened yesterday? UKOPS Day 8

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 172,170

Morning.

My ability to bok remains awesome.

Yesterday I wrote;

"It's gone pretty well so far really, the software has behaved itself, & the Guarantees seem to have been about right."

The Office got cross with me suggesting I was tempting fate. Not wrong, 7 UKOPS events last night & just TWO of them (High Roller & Mini) covered Guarantee. Meh.

To be fair, I did give myself an out. Always best to have an escape route to hand.

"The next 3 nights might be a test, as Bonfire Night - which seems to run for about a week these days - will climax between now & Sunday."

So I'll try the reverse bok today, & suggest that tonight will be Overlay City.

OK, off we go with what happened last night.

    UKOPS 45, £22 entry, £5,000 BH

This runs most nights at £4,000, & it would have covered that, but it was upped to £5,000 last night & that proved almost a bag too far, so effectively, players could buy £1 for 80p. Even Poundland can't offer that sort of value.

Small cashes for @MacMonster, @Angmar2626. Here's MacMonster after winning the Sky Poker UKPC 6 Max - amazing to think this was 5 years ago. The Final Table was a toughie, & included the likes of Ryan Spittles, James Rann & Tommy Dyer, but Mac was a Monster that day.

In 8th place was @cowhead who is a supporter of Sunderland AFC & thus a Mackem. Tough being a football fan in the North East these days if you have to choose between Newcastle & Sunderland. (We shall, like everyone else, conveniently ignore 'Boro). I'd go for Sunderland if I had to choose, not only because of the memories of Roker Park with that corrugated tin roof which amplified sound & which was such a wonderful stadium to watch football, but they had & I assume still have THE best Fanzine in the UK.

In the Final, 6th place went to @MikeyW94 who puts in a ton of MTT volume here & has had countless UKOPS cashes this week though he has yet to notch a big one.

Next to exit was @Chalky666, followed by @mattwut1, @dazed1, and @BRAHER.

    Our winner was @jessieak.

Solid start, well done guys, & enjoy the bonus 20p in the £ that Sky Poker donated. Marv.

Talking of football supporters, my good pal Jeff Kimber, and a member of the Toon Army, Tweeted this yesterday. Good advice, it seems.

    UKOPS 46, £220 Entry, £15,000 High Roller

Despite the hefty price tag, no Guarantee problems with this one which beat the number by over 30%.

It was rammed with the good & great of Sky Poker - & a few others besides.

Early leader @kidgrimsby was unforch to depart as bubble +1, with the actual bubble going to @Sharki0.

Pre-final cashes included @scotty77, @TheDart, @jordz16 and @SenorBegs. Here's a great photo of SenorBegs, sporting a patch of the now defunct PKR Poker. Sat next to him is none other than the best & most amusing degenerate it's ever been my pleasure to know, "Lil" Dave Nicholson. If I had a tenner for every £1,000 that had slipped though Dave's fingers down the years I'd be a very rich man indeed. He's a big darts fan these days, & punts the darts for serious money. Great bloke.

In 6th place & making his 2nd UKOPS High Roller Final of the week was @beefheart1. Phew, I remembered to namecheck him this time. Get yourself up to SPT Manchester mate, would be great to meet you.

Next out was @henners10 followed by @loololollo and @REGMOYEN.

Heads up I was rooting for @Tedson only because we have shared a table or two, but victory, & the near £6k that came with it - as well as a UKOPS Bracelet - went to @jameswins, who was playing way above his usual average stake. Nice win James, well done, that's Xmas sorted.

Have you ever been involved in - or even seen - a SIX way all-in?

Well one went down a few days ago, & Ryan Laplante, a Vegas pal of mine & 4 card specialist who has made 7 WSOP final tables, was one of the six all-ins (he had 5-5), Tweeted these photos of it.

The hands were T8ss, 55, 99, JJ, KK, & AA.

Not sure how the chips were divvied up, but K-K, 5-5 & T-8 suited all took at least 1 pot.

Gawd only knows how long it must have taken to sort those side pots, pity the poor Dealer.

The venue, of course, was The Venetian in Vegas, where Sky Poker held an SPT last year, very good it was too.

    UKOPS 47, £22 entry, £15,000 BH

I nearly did a double-take when I saw Sky Poker offering a £15k Guarantee for a £22 event, but it was a Rebuy BH, & in fact it never fell shy by much.

The cashes went down a long way in this, & included @memfno, @MacMonster, @SenorBegs, @mabsue, and @Szu who won a UKOPS a few nights ago. Remarkably, @HENDRIK62 cashed as well.

    6th went to @ChipDiddy0, then @IMAF1SH, @Keabro and @nigeln.

Heads up it was @MikeyW94 who came out second best, but secured easily his best UKOPS cash of the week, with @Clemy0009 taking the top spot.

Clemy is an interesting one. Not been here long from what I can see on Sharky, & plays literally hundreds of Turbo DYM's, & very successfully too, so he'd be a tough oppo Heads Up knowing ranges as he must. As he plays £10 Turbo DYM's almost exclusively, his Sharky graph was somewhat flat and uninteresting - until last night that is, when it suddenly went vertical & sort of disappeared off the top of the page. MBN.

In Rugby Union, the Autumn Internationals start today, and one result is in already, with New Zealand steam-rollering Japan 69-31. It's not every day we see 100 points in a RU International.

There will be a lot less this afternoon at Twickers but a great game is in prospect as new look England take on the mighty South Africa.

I thought I was dreaming when I saw Sky Bet go 6/5 South Africa (in fact better is available in several spots), how can England ever be odds-on in this spot?

Still, as I'm probably the world's worst punter, I guess we'll find out this afternoon.

No matter who wins, this is always a great spectacle, and it's a game played by real men, not namby-mamby footballers who feign injury at the slightest touch. Watch it, you won't regret it.

UKOPS 48, £11 entry, £5,000 Mini Rebuy BH

Way too many to name-check in this, though @Tedson continued his good session with another cash, and @dai-dull who collected a UKOPS runner-up spot on Monday cashed again too.

In the Final, @bobstout23 was first to depart, followed by @ScotsLion, @LonelyFig, @IronBlue and @ughx3000cx.

Winner @chrisdonkb has missed most of this UKOPS but has made several cashes from a small sample. He's well profitable too, with a great win-rate in the 2 years he has been with Sky Poker. WP Chris.

This man was looking pretty smug yesterday and quite right too.

After having his name plastered all over the newspapers when falsely accused of sex crimes, he has received an undisclosed settlement & apology from the CPS.

Must be the nut worst thing to be accused of such things if innocent. In this case, however, it's unlikely that anyone - the CPS excepted of course - believed the stories.

    UKOPS 49, £22 entry, £4,000 BH

@MattBates is struggling (by his standards) at the deep end of many UKOPS this week & so it was again as he departed in 17th. Gotta win those flips.

6th went to @sarahronni, & @jubb moaned it in with a 5th place after bemoaning his UKOPS luck yesterday.

In 4th was @Szu who won a UKOPS 2 nights previously, then @megypeg and @FAS, a new name to me.

Top of the pots was @gac123 making his 4th decent UKOPS cash this week, including 3rd in Sunday's Main event, so congrats to gac.

Love him or loathe him, there has never been an elected leader like Trump, anywhere, ever.

Watching him perform would be quite entertaining if it were not so serious.

    UKOPS 50, £55 entry, £4,000 Turbo BH

What a toughie this one always is, & last night was no exception, you need to be very good - or very lucky - to run deep in this, as this Final Table proves

    6th went to @GSmith13, then @lundie, @LmfaoAllin with @Limp2Lose 3rd.

Runner-up was @croote03, with the win going to @ondacash.

Worth noting that this was a second win in this UKOPS for @ondacash who also won Sunday's 637 runner Mega Mini for decent money. Tidy week then.

    Back to POTUS.

Just when you thought the Presidential style could not get any less appropriate, Trump announced sanctions against Iran. Now this is a serious matter, especially if you happened to be an impoverished Iranian, life, already tough, will get even tougher very soon.

It may well be a good decision, of course, I've no view on that, but using a Game of Thrones styled meme to announce it must be a Presidential first, & a new low even by the standards of the current administration.

    UKOPS 51, £22 entry, £2,000 Hyper BH

More overlay here - a bad night at the office, for sure.

    "Dear @Sky__James

Please see me in my Office at 8am on Monday.

    Best regards,

    @Sky_SamT"

Anyway, back to UKOPS 50, & it was @HAYSIE who argued his way into 7th place.

    6th was, I think, the week's best result - so far - for @kapowblamz, with @chriscardy 5th, @flushmenow 4th & @ALFIE123 in 3rd.

Heads-up, @scotty77 has been battling all week, & so nearly got a deserved win here, but it was not to be, & it was @wizzer89, with just a few dozen games here on Sky Poker if Sharky is correct, who eventually prevailed.

    The fun - or pain - continues tonight, here's the menu;

    UKOPS 52 PLO Freezeout 7:00pm £22 £2,000 10 4,000

    UKOPS 53 Bounty Hunter* 8:00pm £110 £15,000 12 10,000

    UKOPS 54 Mini Bounty Hunter* 8:30pm £11 £5,000 10 3,000

    UKOPS 55 Bounty Hunter 9:00pm £22 £4,000 10 3,000

    UKOPS 56 Turbo Bounty Hunter 10:00pm £55 £4,000 7 5,000

    UKOPS 57 Hyper Bounty Hunter 11:00pm £22 £2,000 5 3,000

Tonight is the "main" Bonfire Night, & also, for the first time I can ever recall on a Saturday, there is a 7.45pm televised Premier League game, an attractive one too, Wolves v Spurs, so we might be visiting Overlay City again.

Note there is a PLO too, and it's entirely possible that I may have a bash at that, as I so enjoyed the PLO8 the other night. Except one hand.

If you've never played PLO, it comes highly recommended, a truly wonderful game, but be warned, if variance in NLH troubles you, don't bother playing PLO, as you ain't seen nothing yet. Brutal game, abso brutal. Fun brutal though. As they say over at stable-mate Sky Vegas, expect the unexpected.

Yeah, lots of frustating finishes in the UKOPS events, just the way it goes at times.

great reviews @Tikay10 I dont often comment on these but read every one. Especially useful when you are not playing such as yesterday.

Thanks again, this is what makes UKOPS more exciting than the regular schedule and adds a little more prestige.

    Satisfctory write-up, I suppose.

I may plop along later to donate my chips.

"it must be a Presidential first, & a new low even by the standards of the current administration."

If you think that, you really do have a far too high regard for the Trump.
