Afternoon all, & welcome to the 10th & final daily write up of this UKOPS.
All 7 events last night got across the Guarantee line, & by some way, guaranteed Prize Pools were £89,000, actual Prize Pools ended at £102,040. Yay.
Up in Sky Poker Towers,
@Sky_SamT and
@Sky__James carry responsibility for these Guarantees, so a worrying night for them.
Were they relieved to see all 7 events cover comfortably, and UKOPS end with a real flourish?
Well they looked pretty happy to me.
Comments
UKOPS 58, £22 entry, £4,000 BH
Great start to the evening, this covered guarantee with almost an hour to spare, & ended up 40% above the number.
There was a cash in 16th place for the prolific @gac123, to add to his tally of 2 wins, a 2nd & a 3rd already.
I'm not familiar with the player in 12th but I do have a fixation with "interesting" aliases, & I always wonder why they were chosen, so I have to give mention to @suckmetoe. How DO they come up with these names?
10th went to @LnarinOO and the dubious honour of final-table bubble went to our friend @Angmar2626.
9th place went to @miniman88 who has the enviable - or is that unenviable? - record in this UKOPS series of finishing either 9th or 10th no less than 4 times. Not sure if that's run-bad or run-good tbh.
In the final, first to depart was @Curt360x27, followed by @f3nix35, then @shajicat11, and in 3rd place, representing the Staines Massive, @alig1234.
Heads-up it was @--burty-- who blinked first, with @LBenjamin the winner.
Quick question for you.
I name-checked all 6 of the finalists in the review (above) of the 7pm UKOPS.
You now have to name the one who is a WSOP Bracelet Winner. It's not every a day WSOP bracelet winners shows up on Sky Poker.
UKOPS 59, £530 entry, £25,000 Super High Roller
Just to be clear, that's £25,000 Prize Pool, not £25,000 entry. It's astonishing how many Super High Rollers there are in the Live arena there are these days, they seem to be ten-a-penny, many of them with ridic entry fees, $100,000, $250,000, $300,000 & all sorts. Feet firmly on the ground here.
Needing 50 entrants, it attracted 55 uniques plus 7 rebuys, so that was pretty good.
As you can imagine, it was ferociously competitive.
9 paid, & we'll name-check all 9, starting with 9th placed @REGMOYEN, followed in 8th by @f3nix35, who you'll recall cashed in the opener, with the final-table bubble going to @rspca12.
6th place went to the pride of Swindon, @lJAMESl, 5th was @sman987, just ahead of the ever-consistent hotshoe @Sharki0.
In 3rd was @scotty77 who had been the early leader & had been prominent throughout, with the runner-up spot going to the ultra-aggro @GSmith13.
Winner? @ESTEROIDE, who collected close to £10,000. Very nice too.
In that High Roller I made mention of @lJAMESl.
James is a lovely lad, & has been very kind to me down the years, so pardon me if I dwell on him rather longer than I should, which I'll do via a little anecdote.
James is a proud Dad these days, but used to play a whole bunch of Online Poker here at Sky Poker and elsewhere, & he still plays plenty of "Live" stuff.
Back in 2011, and doing jolly well for himself, he was signed up as a "Site Pro" with the now defunct I-Poker skin Poker Encore, which was run by "Tall" Karl Mahrenholz & Conky Cos. Karl had the nick "Tall" as he stood about 7' tall in his stockinged feet, though he no longer wears stockings, while Conky Cos, well, he had Snozzle Durante qualities.
Anyway, as is the custom, Poker News reported this signing with a flourish, eulogising about James & Poker Encore generally. So far, so good then.
Guess what photo they used in that Poker News press release?
Here you go;
Bet Poker Encore were chuffed to bits with that photo, plastered as it was with Sky Poker branding.
Sky Poker 1, Poker Encore 0.
UKOPS 60, £110 entry, £40,000 Main Event
So, the climax of the entire Series, the £40,000 Guarantee Main Event, which beat guarantee by around 8%.
With so many uniques - 368 - it's hard to namecheck all the cashes, but we'll run through a few quickly.
Min-cashes went the way of @Sharki0, @Itsover4u, @Gambelo and @TommyD, with min plus a bit going to @Alvez11, @GregUK, @chicknMelt, @lJAMESl & @fishhhhh.
There were deep runs for @I8HPALACE, @PBKR, @rspca12, @gac123, @goldnballz, @alancarr12, @scotty77 and @benc.
9th was @limp2Lose, well done George - or is it Gary? - 8th was @loololollo and in 7th @Granite89.
In the Final, first bustee was @LuckyBrahh who I'm sure we'll see at SPT Manchester, and there was a brutal beat for @darryl1976 in 5th. Darryl was holding A-K on the K high flop & turn v the super-dominated A-Q, but A-Q somehow got there with a rivered Broadway. Ouch.
4th was @xleex21, & I'm grateful for the Gent who sent me this screenshot of his exit hand. No outs there, then.
3rd spot went to @SikTiltJay, and the runner-up was @GuyL2.
Weird fact about @SikTiltJay (if Sharky is correct) - last MTT he played on Sky Poker was exactly 10 years ago to the day.
Which left victory in one of the biggest events on Sky Poker in 2018 to @Hammmmers who also won UKOPS 38 on Thursday. What price he supports West Ham?
Spam-break.
Quick reminder, satellites for the SPT Grand Final in Manchester start today.
There will be a SPT Tab in the Lobby for ease-of-navigation, & here's the satellite tree;
UKOPS 61, £11 entry, £10,000 Mini
Largest field of the evening, 670 uniques plus 417 rebuys, so again, too many names to mention, but we'll quickly reel off a few.
Down in the lower reaches were @lolufold, @fitzy_1, @Itsover4u, @gac123, @dai-dull, and @lyonsbob06 who won 2 Main Events in 3 nights earlier in the week.
Also amongst the money were @Szu, @KOBAYASHI, @jordz16, @MAXALLY, @omm, and the handsome if slightly foppish - now there's a word you'll have to look up - @stack_u.
Down to the last 4 tables, @icnoships was 22nd, there was a third cash of the night for @f3nix35, 8th was @madeyeII with @chiggypig 7th.
@Sharki0 left the final table first, followed by @KWESI, @pocket and, in 3rd, @mustey.
A fine effort but coming up just shy in 2nd was @whd3241115, leaving the win to @jungle99.
And don't forget, if you think you need a little help, Sky Poker have these three tools to help you;
UKOPS 62, £22 entry, £4,000 BH
Plenty of serial-cashers in the money here, including @Ivydrive (who won the PLO8), @Limp2Lose, @tomgoodun, @jubb, @MattPrawn, @Froozle, @fitzy_1 and @TommyD.
Final table bubble went to @_Smoothe_ who I seem to recall had a really good UKOPS a year or two back.
In 6th, another cash for greyhound racing fanatic @omm, followed by @K2fg32, @AKAscotty, and in 3rd @ALBA8.
Runner-up was @RobRenzi, with top place and the Milk Monitor badge going to the improbably named @djsnorlax.
By way of a quick diversion from all those names & numbers, did you know that the Sky Poker UKOPS used to go under another name?
Back in 2009 it was called Sky Championship Of Online Poker, with the clever and rather catchy acronym of SCOOP.
A few months later, those so & so's over at 'Stars suddenly announced this;
Not much Sky Poker could do about it really, they were too big to argue with, so 'Stars ended up owning the SCOOP brand, & Sky Poker moved to the ever so slightly less catchy UKOPS.
Back then, I doubt anyone even began to imagine that 'Stars & Sky would eventually become one business, &, in effect, Sky Poker would be a step-brother to PokerStars.
UKOPS 63, £55 entry, Turbo BH
Ahh yes, the nightly £50-er, very competitive it was, too.
There was Bounty money for @MAXALLY, @jordz16, @PBKR, @RogueCell, @loololollo, @Froozle and @FeelGroggy.
@StayOrGo was 8th, a touch miffed - nicely miffed, but miffed - that he was outlasted by his son George - or is it Gary? - in 6th.
Proper tough final it was too, with @TIMBER felled in 5th, @stack_u 4th, @starfox 3rd & the very tough-to-beat @lundie runner-up.
About time @Scotty77 had a decent UKOPS result, and after playing almost the entire series he at last got some deserved reward when he took this one down.
Go on Ryan, give us a smile;
Yup, Mini UKOPS starts next Monday. It's all go here, eh?
UKOPS 64, £22 entry, Hyper BH
I'm not sure when poker first adopted the term "Hyper", but it always makes me think of one of those can't-sit-still kids who can't sit still.
In F1 motor racing, they use hyper to describe their tyres, as in soft, super soft, hyper-soft & squidgy.
The actual term originates from a Greek word meaning "over & above".
All of which is utterly fascinating, right?
Anyway, this was the curtain-closer, & it completed 7 out of 7 guarantees beaten on the night. We like that.
Small cashes went to the likes of @eddie18 and @devil_tear, both of whom were led by JimPaige in 10th. (Feel free to groan).
6th was @IMAHEAD1, then @pat1888 in 5th.
And at last, @MattBates makes a UKOPS final, finishing 4th after what has been a tough week by his standards.
3rd was the intriguingly-named @DirrtyDave whilst @sinbin666 earned his UKOPS card as runner-up.
Winner? None other than @TEDSON who made his 2nd final of the week, though this time he won it, wp mate.
So that's it, 10 days and10 reports, which, if we wish to be polite we'd describe as eclectic.
And if you have managed to read this far, wp, you deserve a medal, you really do.
Thanks for reading.
That's it.
He's legged it back from a successful wsop to play the 22 quid UKOPS. Why the **** not?
EDIT: The devils domain is filtered... PC gone mad.
Thanks for doing these updates @Tikay10 , good to read a bit about the results of different players. If you do these for mini ukops then hopefully we can get a bit more input/banter etc from people.
Both answers are correct as to the WSOP Bracelet winner, which was for "7 card stud, hi-lo, 8 or better".
He played a Freeroll tonight? Ha, incred, bankroll nit FTW.
