Mini UKOPS - what happened on Day ONE?

edited November 2018 in Poker Chat
Morning.

First up, if you just want to see the results, with no waffle, splurge & dirge, you can see all the results on the thread @MAXALLY started, here;

https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby/community/forums#/discussion/174298/mini-ukops-results-thread-11th-to-18th-november-2018

For those perverts who like endless waffle with a touch of non-UKOPS comment added, this is the thread, & it'll be updated over the next few hours.

Sort of like the difference between Tesco VALUE & Tesco FINEST. Same product, different packaging.

    First up, the Overlay Report.

    01 needed 250, and struggled across the line with 254, 02 needed 300, again, it fell over the line with 303, the 8.30pm UKOPS Mini Main Event, an £11 rebuy, won by a distance, beating guarantee by over 40%, but 04 let the side down & missed by a few bob.

    Does it matter? Not really, no. Though long-term, if they all cover, then future Mini UKOPs will more likely go ahead, maybe with bigger guarantees, but if the numbers are generally bad, then either future Mini UKOPs won't take place, or they will have reduced guarantees.

    Players have the power to make these things happen. Or not.

    Mini UKOPS 02, £5.50 entry, £1,500 BH

    The thing with Bounty Hunters is that players can make a bit of profit even if they finish down the field, as Head Prizes = money, so the money gets spread around more.

    Small cashes here for @Toffeeandy, @AKAscotty (who did OK om the Main UKOPS), and our old mate @Enut, who apart from NLH, is also pretty handy at both PLO8 & Tennis.

    Just making the Top 10 was @mumsie, who has been immensely helpful to many of us, me especially, on the Forum, with @mondo1985 9th, @Yola 8th & @JCordy just missing the Final.

    I don't know too much - as in nothing at all - about the top 6, who were, in order of departure, @paleface, @Nev333, and @Richrash93 (how did he come up with that alias?) in 4th.

    @NOSTRI ran 3rd, after an 8th in the opener, with the heads up duel going the way of @Revez4584 who overcame @johnhammer.

    Solid start, & if there were a Leaderboard, @NOSTRI would be heading the pack & on his or her way to the speedboat. But there's not.

    I suppose it's another age thing, but when copy writers assume we are all stupid, it does my head in.

    Consider "new" & "brand new". More & more we see things advertised or promoted as "brand new", but what's the difference?

    The OED tells us;

    New;

    produced, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time; not existing before

    Brand new;

    recently created, or not yet used

    Seems to be the same thing to me.

    And then - & I feel my blood boiling even as I type this - they inevitably & predictably add that product of lazy writing which we see so often these days, the pointless exclamation point.

    Drives me nuts. I saw a thread title yesterday which went "do you have the minerals!!!!!!".

    Six - SIX - exclamation marks, when what it actually needed was a simple, single, question mark.

    Apologies for that mini-rant. I shall now dismount.

    Mini UKOPS 01, £2.20 entry, £500 BH

    @bigballoo snuck into the money, as did @Roguecell who, as so often, was prominent early doors. @freechips1 was 17th, @darryl1976 15th & our mucker @SidV79 was 11th.

    @NOSTRI ran 8th, a spot behind @The_hedge in their privet battle.

    In 6th was @Coughlin9, then @KinK who met his Waterloo sunset in 5th, with @jubb 4th.

    Podiumaters were @stonekilla (3rd), @PJDIVO (2nd) with the imaginary trophy going to @wothef which, presumably, is the lengthy version of WTF.

    The World Series of Poker Europe - better known as WSOP-E - started badly 10 years ago in a chaotic tournament spread across 4 venues in London, then wandered aimlessly around Europe before settling at Kings Casino Rozvadov, owned by the notorious & scary Leon Tsoukernok.

    The latest renewal was just last week, & whilst it mostly went under the radar, the Main Event and the €1.1 milly first prize was won by Brit Jack Sinclair.

    Jack flies mostly under the radar, but if the name rings a bell its because he made the 2017 WSOP Main Event Final Table - that's the real WSOP, not the pretend one - finishing 8th of around 7,000.

    We keep seeing folks say poker is all about luck, but it can't be, as guys like Jack seem to come out on top time after time.

    Mini UKOPS 03, £11 entry, £3,000 Rebuy BH

    This was the Day 1 Main Event, & a very healthy looking field numerically, if not aesthetically, no disrespect intended.

    @DaveyZZ just about made the money, & if you are thinking "I know that name" it's because he won the 2 of the SPT's in 2010, one in Glasgow the other in Newcastle. Here he is, Bridlington's finest.....

    Apologies for the dark photo, but easy to guess who took it. Yup, guilty as charged.

    Small monies went to @Woebegone - that'll be the oddly-named Garrison Keiller I guess, & he's a real weird sort - @LmfaoAllin, @DustoLucko, @allen23, @JCordy (again), @chiggypig, @lundie and @BigHawk89.

    In the Final, @Super_Oli was first departure, then @Limp2Lose, well done George/Gary.

    4th was @smilin2, 3rd @LittleGJ and unlucky runner-up @Damon8.

    Remarkably - and I do mean remarkably - our winner was none other than the argumentative, obdurate, chuntery @HAYSIE. How do these things happen?

    I searched in vain for a photo of HAYSIE, but to no avail, but here's the nearest lookalike I could find, a chap with the same surname too, Elton "Skunk" Hayes. Maybe our hero's younger brother?

    Dead dangerous?

    OK, I know we need to be careful in life, but in Plymouth last week the local council stuck warning signs on dozens of headstones in a cemetery as they were deemed a danger, as they might fall over & injure or even kill someone.

    World's gone mad.

    Mini UKOPS 04, £3 entry, £1,000 Turbo BH

    In 30th it was none other than @rainman215.

    image

    27th was @notbrook1, with 26th going to @skypokerfu. Message received & understood.

    Blundering into 21st was @HENDRIK62, just behind @RogueCell taking her 2nd cash of the evening with @jawzindawz 17th, @darryl1976 (again) 13th, & @splashies 11th. There was also a 2nd cash of the evening for @Coughlin90 in 7th.

    Apologies, but the top 6 are all strangers to me, but well done @JammThis (6th), @A1_SCADGE (5th), @Turbooooo (4th), and @goresan22 (3rd).

    Heads up it was @Kurban13 who eventually lost out to the winner @Swanseasto who collected over £170 for his £3.30 investment. Very nice too.

    Tonight?

    Turbo night.

    image

    Mini UKOPS 05 | £500 Turbo 6:30pm £2.20 £500 7 3,000

    Mini UKOPS 06 | £1,500 Turbo 7:30pm £5.50 £1,500 7 3,000

    Mini UKOPS 07 | £3,000 Turbo Megastack Bounty Hunter* 8:30pm £11 £3,000 7 10,000

    Mini UKOPS 08 | £1,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter 9:30pm £3.30 £1,000 7 3,000

    Note that the 8.30pm Main is a rebuy. Still a turbo though.

    Poker sites promote Turbos all sorts of different ways. Here's 2, a Sky Poker version featuring Ambo, and the hair-dryer on fire that our partners over at PokerStars use. Ambo gets the nod. Just.

    Sadly a young boy died earlier this year in Glasgow when one fell on him.
