Xmas UKOPS - Day 4 review

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 172,169

Afternoon all, & welcome to the little write up of the 4th & final day of Xmas UKOPS.

Hope you had as much fun reading them as I had writing them. It's been a blast.

OK, 9 events to rattle through, plus some off-topic "colour" to try & keep it interesting, so we'd best get started.

I've set myself a target of getting this finished by Noon. Easy game, no danger.

    Overlay Report

    9 events, of which 3 made guarantee. Maths experts will therefore deduce that 6 missed, & they'd be spot on.

    Look a little closer though, & it was not so bad. The misses were all fairly small, & the ones that mattered - the Main & the High Roller - both covered nicely.

    There were comical scenes in the Mini, which at £11 entry had a very ambitious £10,000 Guarantee. That's 1,000 entries or re-entries, which is a bunch on a site like Sky Poker.

    20 minutes in, it only had 500 entries, & I sent a message up to the Office to warn them we were going to get a black eye, but James replied "yeah, it will miss but not by much".

    I thought "yeah, gl with that", but amazingly, it ended with 952 entries & rebuys (£9,520), so that was quite a result in the end, & in net terms, there was no loss.

    Well done Sky James. What is he? Not just the GOAT, but a cool goat.

    image

    And here's the real Sky James, working his socks off at an SPT. This is him when he decided to look smart, you should see him on a regular day. Wearing plimsolls too, what IS the matter with kids these days?

    UKOPS 26, £2,000 Bounty Hunter, £11 entry

    Most head prizes went to @Gambelo, no surprise there, he is ferociously good, & in 5 years here at Sky Poker he has the perfect Sharky graph & £30,000+ of profit. WP him.

    Shout-out to HAYSIE too, for a great performance, he played terrific until busting in 185th place in the 189 runner field.

    Deep runs & head prizes went to @SMARTGOAT, @nagrom, @1ali1 & @LnarinOO.

    Final Table bubble belonged to @Makaka, who has had a very decent UKOPS with 5 cashes, including 3 Finals & a win.

    @LmfaoAllin 561000 1 £287.55 + £72.75 Head Prizes 6

    @billie16 0 2 £173.59 + £39.80 Head Prizes 4

    @ApplesJade 0 3 £104.90 + £44.47 Head Prizes 6

    @Gambelo 0 4 £82.54 + £58.18 Head Prizes 9

    @carrotttop 0 5 £70.29 + £18.76 Head Prizes 4

    @bungle72 0 6 £58.58 + £21.33 Head Prizes 4

    Our winner @LmfaoAllin had a cracking night, this was the first of 4 UKOPS cashes for him on Day 4.

    Well done all.

    What a year it has been for those with Bitcoin.

    A year ago it peaked at just under $20,000, today it trades at $3,800, so many investors have lost an absolute ton, though of course they are just "paper losses" really.

    To be fair, lots of investors got in very early, at single figures, so they have done very nicely indeed.

    These days there are even some online poker sites that accept Bitcoin, but I don't see it coming to Sky Poker anytime soon. For starters, the price is so volatile, whereas everyone else is using a stable currency where the value is known.

    I'm not actually convinced that Bitcoin is a viable thing, it smacks of the Emperor's Suit of Clothes to me.

    Here's the Wiki page for Bitcoin, & if you can make an iota of sense of this, well done you;

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin

    And here is a picture of a Bitcoin. Except it's not, as Bitcoin dies not exist in a material form. So it's a pretend Bitcoin.

    image

    I will say with absolute confidence that Bitcoin will never catch on, and let's not forget I said exactly the same thing about the Internet back in 1985. Old blokes know, see?

    UKOPS 27, £3,000 Bounty Hunter, £22 entry

    On day 1 of this UKOPS @bar4004 won UKOPS 8, very nice too. Last night, in UKOPS 27,
    @bar4004 finished plum last. And that's the beauty of poker, no matter how good or bad we may be, we can all win, & we can all come last. Gotta love the pokers.

    Most heads went the way of @GSmith13, nice one Gareth.

    I spotted @anjie1970 in 14th place. Anjie has been here for ever, & in fact all the way back in 2009 was the 5th most profitable MTT player on Sky Poker.

    9th & 8th places respectively went to previous UKOPS winners @hammmmers & @AKAScotty.

    @GSmith13 408000 1 £451 + £182.97 Head Prizes 8

    @LnarinOO 0 2 £272.24 + £41.61 Head Prizes 3

    @3265 0 3 £167.28 + £27.19 Head Prizes 2

    @2Guys1Acct 0 4 £132.84 + £48.76 Head Prizes 5

    @eddie18 0 5 £113.16 + £67.14 Head Prizes 6

    @seadragon 0 6 £95.12 + £32.93 Head Prizes 3

    Quite a final table that, think I'm correct in saying all 6 are nicely profitable on Sky Poker.

    Runner-up @LnarinOO won the evening's opener so he must have been buzzing.

    Tough to beat @Gsmith13 when he has a stack though, & he probably deserved the win.

    It's so weird the way poker works, & I'd bet good money most of us would struggle to name these 3 without consulting Doctor Google;

    image

    They are of course (of course?) the 1-2-3 in this year's WSOP Main Event.

    1st - John Cynn, $8.8 milly

    2nd Tony Miles $5 milly

    3rd Michael Dyer $3.75 milly.

    John Cynn now has lifetime earnings of $9.7 million, of which $8.8 million came from that one event.

    Tony Miles collected $5 million - taking his lifetime earnings to $5.05 million. So prior to that, he had won just $50,000.

    That's similar to 3rd placed Michael Dyer, lifetime $3.85 million, of which $3.75 came from that one WSOP score.

    Collectively, those 3 have lifetime earnings of around $18.6 million, of which approx. $17.55 million came from that one Final Table.

    Good luck to all 3 of them, & it just shows that anyone can bink big at poker if you have a hefty dollop of run-good. Well almost anyone. Think I'd struggle....

    UKOPS 28, £4,000 Bounty Hunter, £22 entry

    Most heads went to the winner, @maccol.

    Poor old @bar4004, who I mentioned earlier, was having a bad night so far, finishing last in the previous UKOPS & last but 2 in this one, but with a 1st place to go with those, that's not so bad. Think that's called "After the Lord Mayor's Show".

    image

    PLO8 specialist & Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey fan @ivydrive ran 20th. Look carefully & you can probably see him here cheering his team on.

    image

    @Sharki0 & @I8HPalace ran 14th & 13th, with @SJspanky1 10th.

    Final Table bubble went the way of @unbpower, & if he happens to read this, his Final Table Jackpot winnings from a night or two ago have now been credited to him thanks to Charlotte in the Office.

    @maccol 546000 1 £588.60 + £260 Head Prizes 13
    @miniman88 0 2 £355.34 + £15 Head Prizes 2
    @bibs16 0 3 £214.73 + £106.17 Head Prizes 8
    @u_owe_me 0 4 £168.95 + £39.60 Head Prizes 3
    @jubb 0 5 £143.88 + £78.52 Head Prizes 6
    @cowhead 0 6 £119.90 + £41.25 Head Prizes 4

    @cowhead (6th) is a Sunderland fan. Not sure what is worst right now, supporting Sunderland or Newcastle, though Sunderland are having a great season down all the way down in League One, & their gates are incredible - a whopping 46,000 saw them beat Bradford City on Boxing Day, which is more than watched Spurs at Wembley on the same day.

    image

    @jubb was 5th, whilst runner-up @miniman88 was enjoying his 4th cash & 2nd final Table of this UKOPS, including one win.

    Top of the shop was @maccol, & I'm pretty sure that was not his maiden UKOPS win.

    I gave mention to Sky James earlier, so I'd best give mention to "The Boss", Sky Sam.

    What a year he has had, with the highlight surely becoming a Dad to young Max.

    Mrs Sam has had a pretty good year too, she's a Big Cheese at SB&G. Like, a seriously Big Cheese, so she probably wears the trousers.

    Here's Sam, some say he's a cool looking dude, especially as a receding hairline is fashionable these days. Wears trainers to the office though, & I don't recall the last time I saw him in the office wearing a tie. No class, no class at all.

    UKOPS 29, £15,000 Bounty Hunter, £220 entry

    96 entries & 19 rebuys made this a really nice comp with £23,000 in play.

    An early bath for @IrishRose, but not before taking a Head Prize, so that was not so bad.

    @CxE1 doubled up very early, but bust soon after, but again the Head Prize eased the pain.

    @HANSON ran 13th & collected 3 heads, so he ended in profit, & there was another cash for @2Guys1Acct in 12th, well done Jamie, seen here being interviewed at Poker in the Park (whatever happened to that?) by none other than Orford who had dressed up for the occasion;

    image

    In 11th was @SOLACK, with @RUNITSRANN 9th. The latter had a decent WSOP this year, with no less than 5 cashes.

    image

    @railtard11 was amongst the leaders throughout before fading into 8th.

    Here's the man himself. Look at that stack, positively obscene. Nice obscene mind.

    image

    What a final this was. I don't know @bluemoon (6th) but think we can guess he is a Man City supporter.

    WSOP Bracelet winner @f3nix35 was 5th, @JonTSnow 4th, & @easyjet67 3rd.

    Lovely to see @devil_tear & @FeelGroggy battle it out Heads Up, two nicer lads you could not wish to meet.

    @devil_tear 1150000 1 £3277.50 + £1429.61 Head Prizes 7

    @FeelGroggy 0 2 £2024 + £567.19 Head Prizes 4

    @easyjet67 0 3 £1253.50 + £496.88 Head Prizes 5

    @JonTSnow 0 4 £1012 + £267.19 Head Prizes 2

    @f3nix35 0 5 £845.25 + £792.04 Head Prizes 5

    @bluemoon 0 6 £713 + £701.37 Head Prizes 6

    A few photos from SPT Las Vegas which was a stonking success.

    Here, on break, looks like everyone was given a Sky Poker Hoodie.

    image

    Quite a few familiar faces here, but I've no idea who that contortionist is.

    image

    The big fella was the TD. Dread to think how tall he was, I'm over 6', so he must be gigantic.

    UKOPS 30, £30,000 Bounty Hunter Main Event, £110 entry

    "Most Heads" was shared between @chrisdonkb & @raggy94, both of whom took 10.

    @Vlalilia, more usually associated with DYM's, was 13th, @RUNITSRANN 12th, & @NIHIGHGUN 11th.

    Excellent result in 4th for @chrisdonkb, collecting around £1,900, coming exactly 3 weeks since he won the Sunday Major & picked up £4,500.

    @MattBates - you know all about him - was 3rd, with @jimmytoon the runner-up.

    Winner was the outrageously talented @DAVEMCDAID, WP him.

    @DAVEMCDAID 3780000 1 £4914 + £1203.71 Head Prizes 7

    @jimmytoon 0 2 £2835 + £833.40 Head Prizes 8

    @MattBates 0 3 £1719.90 + £328.60 Head Prizes 3

    @chrisdonkb 0 4 £1379.70 + £539.32 Head Prizes 10

    @f3nix35 0 5 £1171.80 + £318.16 Head Prizes 5

    @LiamRynn 0 6 £963.90 + £258.39 Head Prizes 4

    The SPT's went very well this year, and we saw some ridiculous outdraws, most of them by Bad Jumper who won SPT Manchester back in February.

    Some of these were just brutal, but Bad Jumper would never fold any hand that contained a deuce. Or any card really.

    Just for @mcglynn07, here's Justin Bonomo on his way to winning the 1 day Super High Roller in Monte Carlo this year.

    Love the hair, think I'll get mine done the same.

    UKOPS 33, £4,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter, £55 entry

    @devil_tear ran 12th to continue a good evening, @StayOrGo was 9th, with @johnnyrkd in 8th.

    Kudos to @StayOrGo for his relentless hard work raising money for charity, the latest example of which was last night, here;

    https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby/community/forums#/discussion/174428/charity-last-longer-for-xmas-ukops-30-main-event-on-30-12-18-at-8pm-and-they-are-off/p1

    When I see the hard work @StayOrGo puts into Community stuff on this Forum it makes me pretty cross to see the very small minority who come here to cause trouble. Lets move swiftly on before I get all uppity.

    Great week by @unbpower, with 8 UKOPS cashes including 9th, 2 x 8th, 7th, 6th, 2 x 4th & a win, plus of course a few bob for the Sky Poker Final Table Jackpot. WP Sir.

    Runner-up @Lancelot11 does not play often here, but when he does he tends to make it count.

    Think we are all familiar with the previous UKOPS exploits of @Sharki0, & I dare not try to guess how many UKOPS wins he now has on his CV.

    @Sharki0 360000 1 £660 + £205.72 Head Prizes 4

    @Lancelot11 0 2 £440 + £195.33 Head Prizes 5

    @bainy1987 0 3 £264 + £140.92 Head Prizes 4

    @ChipDiddy0 0 4 £220 + £87.30 Head Prizes 3

    @JDAA 0 5 £176 + £108.99 Head Prizes 4

    @unbpower 0 6 £143 + £124.22 Head Prizes 4

    There was not much funny about the events in Salisbury earlier this year, but every time I saw those guys in those protective suits, I could not help but smile.

    "Does my bum look big in this?"

    "No no Dear, it looks fine"

    And, finally, we are done.

    If you managed to wade through all 4 days of that, you either need a medal, or you need certifying.

    Thank you to those who commented, it's really appreciated.

    I'm off to have a bite of dinner, & then an hour or two in the gym.
