I listen to a guy explain this situation to someone and I thought it was the best I have herd so thought I would share with you.
He said it's like climbing a mounting, most people stand at the bottom and look straight up and focus at the top, and nearly every body forgets the mounting in between that you need to climb to reach the top.

He said it takes a massive of amount of hard work to climb to the top, you also need to ask for help, and you need to learn a few difrent skill sets, with out any of them you will always reach a point in the climb you need to use a individual skill and if you don't have it, you will keep falling and sliding down the mounting having to start over again.

So in your situation, things like poker swings and tilt are all individual skills you need to acquire to reach your goals at the top, if you neglect to work hard to get them, all that's going to happen is you are going to end up back at the start over and over again.

Asking for help and working hard on your game is the only way to make the climb to the top there is no short cut you can't just look at the top players and think you can get there with out all the things I outlined.

It would appear that whilst you certainly have poker knowledge perhaps what youre lacking is poker wisdom.

Look at it like this. Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

    Yours in poker

I agree with you mark, I like to take the advice of the great philosopher Brent, if things are not going well, go get the guitar.
