I see this contraption around where I live attached to Victorian houses, I see them in Eastbourne , Hastings and Brighton.


I assume they are for scraping mud from boots.

Are they common in other parts of the county ?

They are mainly found outside posh houses Tom.

I was just winding him up, and you have spoilt it now.

I have found on the odd occasion I have been in one during the British Summer quite depressing, playing scrabble and listening to the rain pounding on the roof.

Although, not wanting to upset anyone, some people love them.
