Cant really understand much of this in isolation. Was there some dynamic in play which makes villain think he can shove ace trash through two players ?. Also what was the reasoning behind the call ?

Did u think you were way ahead, had villain shown a propensity to shove light, had he played his monsters in the same way ??

Taken as it is it appears that villain shoved expecting to blast you both off the pot because lets be honest its a junk hand that many flops will run over. However you called and you were ahead although not massively and he just ran out good.

I really want players shoving that light in the long run you get it all.

You got all in while you were ahead, in the long run that's +EV.

What did you put him on when you called his shove? I was in a similar situation the other day (pretty much exact same actually - Villian just had A6 instead of A3) and I knew the player had a tendency to shove/raise big with weak hands, so I called his shove and got beat when he flopped a pair of Aces. Lost the hand, but in the long run that move makes money.

Only thing I would say is that your 3 bet was very weak. he raised by 1 BB, and then you only raised by another BB. He was never going to fold to that, and it possibly made you look a bit weak (hence he thought he could steal with a shove).

I would have been looking to 3 bet him to 100-120. He may then have decided against shoving and putting you in that spot. Of course, shoving with A3o makes him look like a maniac, so may have shoved either way.

The second example is just a standard beat really. His shove is ok as the big stack I guess although A 10 off isn't superstrong and your call is fine as your'e well above his shoving range.

There is only 1 winner in any tournament.
The others mostly either get unlucky or play a hand badly.
You were the former in both of these. You can only get it in good.....

There are a lot of instances particularly when stacks are shallow that someone can shove correctly and we can call correctly. This is one of those instances and we called with the best hand and lost. It is fine to check these spots but AK is a call all day long. Make sure you are questioning spots where you win as well as when you lose. You need to focus on the correct actions rather than focus on the results as we can only change one of those two things. If you are asking about a play because you lost and you wouldn't if you won then you are not analysing your plays in the right way.

the first hand imo altho you got it in ahead , i find at low stakes people shoving on the first round of blinds 10/20 have the goods a lot of the time cuz people call light at the low stakes i,ve folded queens to shoves on the 1st round of blinds quite a few times i,ve called a few too that,s why i come to the conclusion above
is it a leak folding to a shove such a strong hand early in a tournament

Ok thanks guys for advice. The 2nd example was a satellite, there was 17 left and 12 got seat. Felt I needed to play another hand though to qualify?

The fact that it is a satellite is quite crucial info and varies our play massively. We need to know the other stack sizes to know the optimal play here.

I'm not sure what ''reasoning'' OP needs to call off there?
