Have you ever met a celebrity?

Or maybe been in the newspaper or on TV?

Won something of note, a competition, race, some sort of medal or whatever?

Met a lot of the celebrity antiques dealers , whilst doing the auctions and fairs .
One of the nicest , ( died suddenly ) , was David barbie , pretty much as he used to come across on tv . Same applies to Margie cooper .

Was once out with friends for the evening in a pub in stevenage, and met the guy who plays phil mitchell in eastenders. ( heavily guarded) .

    I know , amazing stuff eh ? :p

Was on BBC news when their film crew came aboard my ship (HMS Broadsword) during the Armilla Patrol in the Gulf in the 80's.

The Captain decided it would be a good idea to show them how we react if we come under attack, so he simulated a missile attack without telling anyone.
    Didn't go down too well!
Change of underpants was in order.

Rather spooky, but I was in Mombasa, Kenya, 30 or 40 years ago & HMS Broadsword made one of those "Official Visits" to the Port of Mombasa, and UK Passport holders were allowed to go on board & have a bit of a tour.

I believe she was later sold to Brasil.

Our paths have crossed then :-)
We had 5 days leave in Mombasa after spending 2 months escorting merchant ships through the Straits of Hormuz.
    Small world huh?

    @VespaPX

Can you date that visit, Mick?

I went there a few times, but one of them was definitely 1988, as I recall reading about the Lockerbie air disaster back home whilst there.

And another occurance on this trip.
We lost our helicopter in a crash prior to arriving in Mombasa.
The RAF had to fly a replacement out.
One of the crew on the Hercules was my brother in law !!

I was working in Guildford in 1987 shopfitting was doing a pizzaland on the high street
Took the glass out of the front window so we could get plaster boards in the restaurant I was in the street
I looked down the street and guess who was walking up the street Phil Collins
I shouted to the lads "Phil Collins is walking up the street " i won't repeat the replys
They all rushed to the window when they realised i wasn't bull$hitting as my mate Phil walked past
I said "aup Phil " and as cool as you like he gave me the thumbs up
So there you go my 2 minutes of fame and he didn't even speak
