Well one of the reasons could be ..they are never blo ody open .
Case in point , I live in a smallish town which has one butchers shop. 9am this morning , both of the supermarkets had been open since 8 am. Not a one off with this store , there's no opening hours displayed on the door either ( prob a good reason for this ) . I would have liked to have supported this local store today , but certainly not going to hang around outside indefinitely on the off chance they might open ...so Aldi got my money .
So I guess the conversation topic is , do local shops really have the right to moan about struggling , when they are not prepared to put the hours in ?

Many High Streets are dying due to internet shopping, but equally, they have to adapt or die, & so if they don't promote themselves properly, & open "modern" hours (7 days per week) it's hard to have sympathy for them.
It's quite sad in some ways, used to love the traditional shops such as The Home & Colonial & Woolies, but times change.
Yup, loose sweets in Woolies were pretty good, but nothing beat loose biscuits.
