I doubt many of us realise (without Mr Google's help) that Shrove Tuesday (today) is the day before Ash Wednesday, which of course is the beginning of Lent.
All of which is a bit too religious for me, &, I suspect, for most of us.
It won't stop many of us from stuffing a good few pancakes down our gobs though.
Anyone here still have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday?

You really can't beat a traditional thin pancake with lemon and sugar.....mmmm
500 g wheat flour
200 g of sugar
3 eggs
Pinch of salt
50 g of melted butter
1 liter semi-skimmed milk
Preparing the batter
– Put the sugar, melted butter, rock salt and eggs into a bowl.
– Beat the mixture and gradually add the wheat flour and half a glass of milk. You should obtain a smooth batter with no lumps.
– Add the rest of the milk.
Leave to stand for about an hour before cooking
Enjoy!
Lemon juice and sugar were the accompaniments, none of this berries and syrup malarkey.
Pancake day is a great excuse to indulge in something sweet and experiment with new toppings. But can your dog also enjoy a little treat?
Experts at Pethority say you should only feed your dog pancakes if you check the ingredients first. Some popular flavours, such as chocolate and raisins, can be toxic to dogs so be careful when serving them up. The Dog People at Rover also suggest that owners should double-check any allergies their dog may have before serving them up.
Remember that pancakes aren't healthy treats either, so monitor how many you give your pet. Try not to overfeed your dog and keep the batter fairly plain. While they won't harm your dog, they shouldn't become a regular treat.
