Why are eggs still mostly sold in half dozens or dozens?
As life goes on, most things get modernized, & the Metric system is pretty good, even those who struggle with maths can cope with 10's.
And yet, for the most part, both here & in the USA, we still buy eggs in multiples of dozens.

What else is sold by the dozen, & why?
I saw this question on google, which reads rather amusingly;
What's a dozen of eggs?
Because one egg is un oeuf.
Two eggs and a strip of bacon walk into a bar.
The bartender looks at them and says, "Sorry - we don't serve breakfast here."
Final warning. 1 more joke as bad as that , and you will be sentenced to read every post on the Brexit thread....
On a similar note, does it tilt anyone else that finger rolls are usually sold in packs of six, while sausages (especially hot dogs) are seemingly sold in packs of anything but six?
And doughnuts, of all things?
I always get the supermarket or Greggs doughnuts that are usually less than a quid and sold in packs of 5.
