Adam Johnson is - or was - a footballer with Sunderland who was jailed back in 2015 for sex offences with a 15 year old girl.
Here's the story;

"Paedo seen in public wearing £100,000 watch" sorta thing.

Is, or should there, be a time when someone has served their time for a truly dreadful crime is left along to get on with their life, or are the Media & the public entitled to hound them for the rest of their life?
I would not go round hassling him, or reminding him of his crime, the bill has been paid, but no, I'd not want him near a young daughter of mine.
Should he be able to play professional football in the UK?
There's nothing in the law to stop him, but public opinion would not allow it, I suspect.
Let he who is without sin etc
Don't like the man, abhor his crime, but he has served his sentence and is going to be monitored very closely.
Move on
Ched Evans found a way back into the game (with great difficulty) before his conviction was quashed, so maybe a lower league club might feel the reward to get him on board is worth the attention it would bring? I'd assume he can't carry on his career abroad, which would probably have been the best option for him.
Whilst his sentence did feel slightly excessive, it's hard to feel sorry or any sympathy for him. He had it all, a lifestyle many can only dream about, and threw it away. By all accounts he is really thick, shocking for a footballer I know.
Fast forward a few years and a star-struck teenager in his car was also too tempting.
The guy is an idiot. Talented footballer but he has tumbleweed for a brain.
