las vegas micro challenge

subzero1subzero1 Member Posts: 77
Hi all.i'm always reading about challenges that people are under taking.DYM challenges, £100 to £1000 that sort of thing.
So i'v decided to start my own challenge which I think is a bit different but very do able.
A little bit of back ground,My wife and I visited vegas about 10 years ago and we both vowed to go back when the kids were old enough.(we left them with there grandparents last time).Well next year they.ll both be over 21and they want to come with us.To play in the WSOP has always been on my bucket list every since I got in to poker so next year would be the perfect time to combine the 2 in the respect that my wife would have company while I was at the tables. As I am 54 next year I want to play in the senior over 50 event. So after a little research I discovered it is always played on the third weekend of june starting on the Thursday before so I have 431 days till then and also it is always $1000 dollars or about £760.Now the challenge is I already have £110 in my account so I have to turn that £110 in to £760 within 431 days or another words £1.50 a day.I no that seems easy to some and they can probably make that in a night but to me who is a casual player it makes for quite an interesting challenge because its an amount I have to reach and also I have a time limit all but a long one.So lets see how I get on.

Good luck, what games/stakes are you going to playing?

    Good luck

Would also mention that there are other Series on in Vegas at the same time, that also include Seniors events, so no harm in going for extra money ;)

Thanks for all your comments. I will be going to try for extra money but I don't want to play higher stakes than my abilities allow to go for a bigger score and risk losing .As for the games/stakes i'm going to play it will obviously be micro stakes as it will be easier for me to win a small amount over a longer period of time and game wise.I don't want to play cash because I get fed up with getting a big score then losing it all when i'm 90% winner in the hand and the same applies to MTT's when i'm about to reach the money bubble and I get knocked out the same way.But I don't enjoy DYM's and iv been quite successful on the streak weeks so if I play a handful of £1.10 turbo DYM's a day I hope that will do the trick.

If your only playing a handful of £1 DYM’s a day I would play normal speed rather than turbo if you have the time as you may find you have a greater edge in these as the tables are quite soft.

Ok snuffer thanks for the tip.Yes I could probably manage about an hour a night and maybe about 4 hours over the weekend and they say that a regular DYM takes about half an hour to play so I should be able to manage about a dozen or so DYM's a week. Also In my earlier post I accidently wrote that "I don't enjoy DYM's when I actually meant that I do.Just to clean up any confusion.

Haha, was a bit confused as you seemed to hate all formats of poker! If you can multi-table these I’m sure you will be there in no time :)

Quick weekly update on my challenge.Bad week at the poker tables and a few sports bets went west but I did manage to pull it out of the fire with a win on tiger roll in the national. Also i do get a £5 free bet thanks to the sky bet club. So I am now at £107.50 from the original £110.Not sending up distress flares yet as a long way to go. P.S the challenge is mainly poker based but I do like a little sports betting at the weekend.I assume it all counts as It all goes in the same account.
