When I was a young whippersnapper I worked in Robert Smith's local newsagents on the posh side of Bognor Regis (I know, it's hard to believe Bognor has a posh side!). Every few weeks a random American or two would come in and ask for directions to his house, which I thought was very strange indeed. What on earth were they hoping for? An invite in for a cuppa and a chinwag perhaps?
Gratuitously fawning over celebrities has always seemed to be a major pastime for our cousins across the pond but I'm starting to think it has become just as big of a thing over here now too. I'm glad I'm old and grumpy enough not to give a cr@p
