Should i late reg or not

subzero1subzero1 Member Posts: 77
I would like to ask a bit of advice.I satellited in to a tournament on another site. The tournament is a 2 day event day 1 online then day 2 at a regional casino of your choice. Now looking at day 1online the event starts with 20000 chips the levels are 15 minutes and last 14 levels and late reg till the end of level 6.Now what I want to no is would most people start from the beginning and try and accumulate chips early or wait the 6 levels until the blinds are higher and therefore the pots will be bigger and then join then Because I hate it when I have been grinding away for an hour and go from 20000 chips to say 10000 then somebody sits down next to me and before they play a hand they have got double what I have got.I hope that all makes sense.

If you feel you have a skill edge when deep then play from the start. If you feel your better suited playing shallower stacks then late reg.
As you have won via a satellite I would ensure that is is ok to late reg.

If you are a terrible deepstack player but an exceptional 20bb player then late reg is good. Otherwise you should play as early as possible to take chips off the fish before they bust.

The example you make about someone sitting next to you who late regged and they double up is pretty much irrelevant and shouldn't come into your thoughts at all.

As Matt says it all depends on what you are comfortable playing and the point kapowblamz makes about exploiting the fish early is valid. I dont mind late regging tourneys but for me I must always be coming in with at least 40 /50 big blinds and no more than 20% behind the average stack.

Although be aware Im not a very good player.
