UKOPS Day 2, who won what? Grumpy Bloke wins UKOPS MTT shocker.

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 172,130

Afternoon.

I was quite pleased with how many Views yesterday's UKOPS Update got, roughly treble those of a non-UKOPS "who won what?", but the litmus test is if that number is sustained on Day 2 & onwards. If folks enjoyed the first one they will keep reading subsequent ones, if they don't, they won't. We shall see. Think I'll take the unders.

    Let's start with the Overlay Report. Up in the Office, overlay is called "subsidy", & they have to report this to the Higher Ups in their financial reports. When there is Overlay, that money has to be clawed back twice, in effect, to get back to where the numbers should be, so it's never a good thing.

    Over at Party, of course, they are throwing overlay out there deliberately, as part of their land-grab to try to soak up 'Stars business. Dangerous game that, in the long-term, but good luck to them.

    Anyway, here's yesterday's UKOPS numbers.

    UKOPS 08, G'tee £3,000, made £3,300

    UKOPS 09, G'tee £3,000, made £2,940

    UKOPS 10, G'tee £15,000, made £15,600

    UKOPS 11, G'tee £3,000, made £3,345

    UKOPS 12, G'tee £4,000, made £4,050

    UKOPS 13, G'tee £2,000, made £2,070

    UKOPS 14, G'tee £4,000, made £4,300

    So that's two really good days so far.

    Whether it can be sustained remains to be seen. Typically, as a UKOPS progresses, fatigue sets in, & the numbers start to decline. And then there's the Easter effect. Will folks go out at Easter, maybe go away to their caravan at Skeggy, or stay at home & play the pokers? Then there's the weather. The forecast is a very hot weekend, which, if true, won't help.

    So what will it be, the beach, or the poker?

    Well now, what a night for @TommyD. He's a huge Spurs fan, and what a ride they had last night. 90 minutes had long passed, Spurs were though. Then City scored, & Spurs were out. Then VAR intervened & they were back in. Isn't sport great?

    Anyway, well done TommyD, smashing bloke & been with Sky Poker as long as I can remember. He does - or used to do - a Hospital Radio commentary of Spurs matches, & for that, much respect. Tommy loves live poker, too, can barely contain his excitement.

    The brutality of variance in tournament poker was demonstrated by this bunch who were all at the very rear of the field, with UKOPS ace @Froozle last of all, just behind scotty, avix, timeforbed & Guitar Bloke.

    UKOPS 9, £3,000 Deep Stack, 7.30pm

    The only one not to hit it's guarantee last night, & the only non Bounty Hunter. Coincidence? Well it only missed by 4 runners, & sample size tells us the evidence is flawed, so maybe best not to read anything into it.

    Winner rockrose plays a fair bit here, but I doubt he's ever had a bigger or better win than this, wp him.

    kimpet loves a Turbo, he's a real any-two will do merchant, and he's having a decent week, winning Monday's Quickdraw, & getting a third in the UKOPS Day 1 Turbo.

    5th & 6th were JordyAA & devil_tear, both of whom are very handy.

    @rickrose 735000 1 £825

    @DTaylor01 0 2 £480

    @kimpet 0 3 £273

    @saunders05 0 4 £213

    @JordyAA 0 5 £183

    @devil_tear 0 6 £153

    Coming up just shy of the Final were Melty, Direwolf (2nd cash of the series I believe), MISTY4ME (how?) & coo1-um.

    @chicknMelt 0 7 £117

    @Direwolf 0 8 £75

    @MISTY4ME 0 9 £54

    @coo1-um 0 12

    Better outcome this time for Guitar Bloke, with miniman88 just behind, & Bibiatch, who finalled the Day 1 Turbo, in close attendance.

    @Duesenberg 0 19 £39

    @miniman88 0 20 £39

    @Bibiatch 0 21 £36

    As for Groggy, it's a case of "see me after school my boy".

    UKOPS 10, £15,000 Main Event, 8pm

    After running 6th in UKOPS 9, devil_tear made no mistake this time & came home the winner, & gets himself a UKOPS bracelet too.

    Regular UKOPS combatant peiratis88 was 2nd, & it was to be the first of a brace of 3rd placed UKOPS finishes during the evening for loololollo, who now boasts over £120,000 of MTT profit here on Sky Poker.

    The deliciously-aliased RollOneUp has played just 6 MTT's here in 6 years, and this was the first in 6 months. Guess he'll be back for Xmas UKOPs. Xmas 2025.

    Crusher Group crusher avix was 6th, 8 spots ahead of fellow Crusher Group founder ItsOver4U.

    @devil_tear 1560000 1 £2180.10 + £936.72 Head Prizes 7

    @peiratis88 0 2 £1329.90 + £352.74 Head Prizes 6

    @loololollo 0 3 £819 + £482.35 Head Prizes 8

    @RollOneUp 0 4 £659.10 + £383.79 Head Prizes 6

    @Limp2Lose 0 96 0

    3rd in the previous event, kimpet was last but one this time. That's called reversion to the mean.

    UKOPS 11, £3,000 Mini, 8.30pm

    The winner seems to mainly play 1 or 2 Turbo DYM's a day & not much else, but dipped his toe in deeper waters last night & came up with a very nice win.

    The guy in 3rd presumably prefers underlay to overlay. (Just for @Enut). On which note, best to move on quickly.

    @Spike4000 2007000 1 £418.12 + £97 Head Prizes 14

    Top of the pole was kodiak who is developing into a tidy player, & beat off Froozle for the win.

    The Bates made his first final of the Series in 5th, with Sock Bloke LARSON7 6th.

    kapowblamz got a minor cash, though I suspect he won a lot more by betting the shop on Liverpool last night.

    @kapowblamz 0 35 £18.75 Head Prizes 1

    In the Father & Son stakes, the boy finished higher but the Dad won more, so we'll call that a draw.

    UKOPS 13, £2,000 Turbo BH, 9.30pm

    Well well well, Grumpy Bloke took the win, for his 2nd Final of the series, & at this rate, a Total Player challenge is possible. At this rate he'll having nothing to moan about, & that won't do at all.

    UKOPS 14, £4,000 Turbo BH, 10pm

    As long as I can remember, UKOPS nights have finished with this exact MTT, but it seems to show no signs of fatigue & still gets the required numbers.

    No mistake for the Dad this time as he sweeps imperiously to his first win of the Series.

    Dad 2, Son 1.

    loololollo was 3rd for the 2nd time of the evening.

    @StayOrGo 430000 1 £623.50 + £247.22 Head Prizes 5

    @JBuckyyy 0 2 £408.50 + £193.28 Head Prizes 4

    16th did not qualify for Prize Pool money proper, but 4 Heads is handy enough.

    Tonight? More of the same really, but there's a PLO8 affair, ideal for elderly fish. Think I might be obliged to indulge. In the PLO 2 days ago I was gone before Late Reg ended. Can I beat that?

    19:30 UKOPS 16 PLO8 £1,500 £22 10 4,000

    Great write up TK. Congrats to @devil_tear for taking down the main and to all the other winners. Three great players in the top 3 of the main. Well done @peiratis88 and @loololollo too.

    The Leaderboard is hotting up nicely. GL all!

    P.S. Father has to get one over on son occasionally. :D
