What would be the ruling here .

A pub tournie game I'm not involved in.

Heads up and beers are flowing.

Player A , has a visibly massive stack, covers player B about 6:1.

On the river, player A shoves all-in.

Player B says " what you got "?

Player A shows his cards" Full house"

Player B says " Hang on , I wasn't calling you, I wanted to know your chip count"

Player A. " You can see my stack, ive got you covered , you can see that..."

Player B folds.

That's the end of it. Next hand.

Is there a ruling that things could be different ?

Player A gets a slap round the chops for being a tit.

He needs to be careful, "exposing your hand" before action is complete can have very serious repercussions. He needs to wind his neck in a bit & learn the rules.

Always best to let your opponent put at least one chip in the middle (universal Poker language representing a call) even if they say call.

I've been in a situation where a guy said call "quietly" three times and I asked him to put a chip in, or at least for the dealer to confirm the call before exposing my hand.

Officially them saying call should be enough, but if there is no dealer to confirm it, then get them to put their chip/chips in before exposing.

Yes player A clearly at fault for exposing hand, player B did nothing wrong provided it wasn't an angle shoot.

He could have used better words than "What you got?" though, something like "How much are you playing?" would be better.

Incidentally, if someone asks you how much you are playing you don't have to answer but you must move your hands so that your chips are visible and have you big denomination chips at the front in clear view.
