New Brexit Party MEP Ann Widdecombe has been slammed online for saying "science may produce an answer" to homosexuality .
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant made the remarks while defending support she gave to "gay cure" treatments.
The veteran campaigner against LGBT rights was confronted about a 2012 article that defended "gay conversion" therapy.
She also said the " homosexual lobby " was stopping people who want to turn straight from doing so.
Critics say "gay conversion" is unethical and people are pressured into it. Theresa May has branded the practice "abhorrent" and vowed to ban it, the Mirror reports.

Nigel Farage has defended the Brexit party MEP Ann Widdecombe, after she suggested science might one day produce an answer to being gay.
The Brexit party leader also claimed that “many many” Muslims had more extreme views on homosexuality than Widdecombe.
