Balding confusing me- Newmarket tomorrow

Am I missing something , 1.50 Newmarket has a tough finish and horses in race that have done this trip all beaten by Dashing Willoughby at Royal Ascot so does Balding go for it with said horse, no he appears to have put it in a much more difficult race and has gone with a horse that has little form to suggest he could win this. Two likely losers instead of a very good chance of a win seems strange.
So has RANCH HAND 20-1 shown himself well at this trip at home and/or is Dashing Willoughby 14-1 better than I think over 1m 4f.

Somethings going on, just wish I could fathom it!

Might be worth an ew dabble on both at those prices anyway but you ask a very good question on a situation which, at the very least, does seem strange.
