Morning all.
Tonight we are making our first visit in a while to Pontefract races.
Pontefract, or as it's widely known, "Ponty", is near Wakefield, & was once famous for coal mines & liquorice farming, both of which have now ceased locally.
I do believe that Pontefract Racecourse is the longest racecourse in the UK, maybe even Europe, at just over 2 miles. Possibly.
This is a lovely photograph of Pontefract racecourse, with the colliery (now closed) in the background.

Haven't played Nap for about 30 years (or more) and used to love it.
SPACE WAR please
SPACE WAR please
Andy I think SPACE WARS is a non runner according to... bet 365... that is
SPACE WAR please
@SidV79
Think we used to call it "Solo".
What was it called when we bid to lose every trick - Misere? aka "Mizz".
Then there was Misere Ouverte (sp?) where we had to lay our hand on the table face up & lose every hand. We ought to get a solo school together in Brighton.
The only problem with Solo is that all the players (ideally 4, but can be played with 3 iirc) needed to know the game, as, in effect, three of the players play as a team against the bidder & if 1 does not understand the nuances it spoils the game for everyone.
There was also "a bundle" (Abundance Declared, 9 tricks), "royal bundle" ( Royal Abundance, 9 tricks in trumps) & Abundance Declared - win all 13 tricks with hand laid face up on table.
@SidV79
Space War is now a non-runner, please select an alternative. (Thanks to @HANSON for the nudge).
