Southwell in Nottinghamshire is our destination tonight. It's not exactly Prestbury Park, or Newmarket, but the horses don't know that, do they?
We'll go for the 8.40, which is a 3 mile Conditional Jockeys Handicap Hurdle, meaning SdS fans, of whom, it seems, we have plenty, will have to look elsewhere this time.
We have 9 runners with an odds-on jolly, though you'd need to be pretty brave to take odds on in a 9 runner Handicap Hurdle. The obverse, of course, is that an odds-on runners pushes the price of everything else out, so there are some juicy prices on offer.
Our race will be televised live on Sky Sports Racing.

Here's the League Table after Day One, in which, somehow, 19 of you found a 13/2 shot in a 6 runner race. How does that even happen?

This is Lorcan Williams, who rides Layerthorpe in our race. Lorcan had had a torrid 2 years away from the racecourse after a bad do which involved a suspended prison sentence. Like most men in their youth, many of us included, he made a mistake or two & so had to pay his bill. Hopefully that's all behind him now, he has a great talent, & he can make something of his life. I hope so, anyway.

The odds on favourite won one of our races last week iirc, & comes from the all-conquering Skelton yard. It's ridden tonight by this splendid young man, William Marshall.
Thank you.
Thanks for letting me know.
