Stansted is the second worst airport in the world for delays with a THIRD of flights failing to leave on time, damning study finds Stansted is the second worst airport in the world for delays, according to a damning study.
Only Indonesia’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport had a worse punctuality record over the past 12 months.
Last month, the record high temperatures caused chaos at Stansted, with a string of delays and cancellations. Only 66 per cent of flights got away on time.
In July last year, exhausted passengers were pictured trying to sleep on a baggage carousel and the floor after storms disrupted flights.
The average delay at Stansted is 25 minutes, according to another report. Stasher ranked 106 airports by flights delayed by more than 15 minutes. Other British airports also performed poorly, with Manchester in 96th place, Gatwick at 93rd and Heathrow 65th.
Stansted handled 28 million passengers in 2018. A spokesman said delays were caused by issues beyond the airport’s control – such as adverse weather and strikes.
The best airport for punctuality was Sheremetyevo Alexander S. Pushkin in Moscow.https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/stansted-is-the-second-worst-airport-in-the-world-for-delays-with-a-third-of-flights-failing-to-leave-on-time-damning-study-finds/ar-AAFiSQ2?ocid=spartanntp
