Before we look at the Leagues, there were a lot of dead-heats this week - & I do mean a lot.

Think there was a 14 way tie for 10th in the £1.10 Leaderboard, & a 13 way tie for 10th in the £2.20 Leaderboard, in addition to quite a few other ties for various places in different leagues.

    So here are the rules for prizes when there are dead-heats;

    11. A total of £3,000 will be paid out each week. Where places are tied across different prize amounts, the average prize amount will be awarded to both players. Extra places may be awarded prizes if there is a tie beyond 10th place.

Thanks for the updates Tikay, it really is appreciated.

A quick question though, a couple of people who were on the earlier boards disappeared half way through while their score would still have qualified. Now we all know where conclusions are gonna jump and I don't want to put you in a tough spot because I personally feel you are sent out to take the flak far too often when other people should be accountable. So please could you ask upstairs if they could give an official reason.

Also no subtext or subtly from me here, if the reasons mean refunds are appropriate, please could you ask upstairs to promise to pay out all of those who were affected, not just those who have noticed and complained. Frankly all of the above (statement and if appropriate, refunds) should already have happened imo.

Again for clarity, this criticism is not aimed at you, it's aimed upstairs. And if the reason is completely innocent then I retract it all and humbly beg their pardon.

Afternoon @TommyD, great to hear from you, we don't see enough of you on here.

I really appreciate your kind words, though to be fair Sky don't ever "send me out" to take flak. I'm always happy to be first responder when any grief arises, & to be fair, very view of the lads give me a hard time, it's only the "I lost 93 times with Aces in one DYM" crew that try to get heavy, & they certainly don't bother me.

The Chinese wall remains in place, so there's some stuff I don't know the background to & it would be improper for me to ask, though I am clear as to what you are referring.

GDPR, Chinese walls, & all sorts of other stuff really does make it harder both for myself, & the Staff, of course, to be 100% open on a public forum. Life used to be so much less complex.

Anyway, yes, I hear you, & I'll ensure the Suits receive your message. Bear in mind, please, that it's likely they have now gone home for the weekend. When or if they will respond I have no idea, but let's wait & see.

I do hope you & yours are well, & that one day your lot will beat the Arsenal.

I'd like to state for the record that I didn't collude or anything like that. I understand that someone may look at my score and instantly think that, but I wouldn't think of cheating or even know how to go about it to be honest.

Only thing I'm hiding is the 150 nicker from the mrs :)

If anyone is interested in how I did it, I'll answer any questions.

If I played anyone during the streak and they want to know why I did what I did in a certain hand, post it here and I'll explain.

Please consider though that I mostly play PLO8.
I'm not even sure I actually played NLH as part of the streak.

As it happens, I actually ended the streak on a tremendous runner runner bad beat.

    Enjoy your poker everyone.

    Mark.

    Hi @Maaaaaaark

I would be very disappointed if anyone has suspected that, & nobody has suggested it as far as I am aware.

I did have a look at Sharkscope after your streak to see what format you played, & that interested me as it's the very game I most enjoy.

For a streak like that you need to have a good bit of luck along the way, but make no mistake, you also need to be pretty handy.

    Very well done you.

    Thanks.
I've been asked in a chatbox who I cheated with and I guess it's made me paranoid LOL

Yes I was very lucky, I think my previous best streak was 10 or 11.

Come and have a game with us, I'll play any buy-in if you fancy it.

Thanks for a very swift reply.

    All the best

    @Maaaaaaark,

Yes, people do say the daftest things, and I completely understand why you would maybe feel a little paranoid. Just ignore them. If they had a shred of evidence beyond jealousy they would report it.

It actually surprises me that more players did not go the PLO8 route, as there is such a huge gap between the best and the worst.

Think I've played over 25,000 PLO8 DYM's here, and I miss playing them more than I can begin to tell you, but since the takeover, I'm not entirely sure I'm still allowed to play on the site. The new owners have different rules about these things & I'm keen not to break any rules. Oddly, I originally stopped playing here because one guy repeatedly suggested I was colluding on THE most tenuous of reasons - that I lived close to another player who also played a lot of them. In fact I lived 150 miles from him, but you know what these sorts are like, don't let facts get in the way of a daft allegation. Anyone with a single brain cell could see that we played hard but fair, with no monkey business. I had a completely clear conscience, but I did not want The Business to be embarrassed by scurrilous rumours and innuendo.

Maybe I should ask the Suits if I'm still permitted to play here, as I certainly miss it very much. PLO8 and Big O are the best formats in poker as far as I am concerned, though some say they are the preserve of the elderly. I'm obviously proof that is not true.

Anyway, good luck in Week 2.

    Hey Mark

Just for clarity I wasn't talking about you in the slightest. Many congrats, great run!

Please do ask the gaffers, if you've played that many games I've love to play you and watch/learn.

I read more than comment here on the forum, but you are clearly well liked, would it not bring business to the PLO8 if you played?

I love PLO8, I think it's the most rewarding yet sometimes the most frustrating game.

Thanks for the GL, I'm currently at a streak of 2 LOL so ask the bosses quick. I'm easy money :)

Please, don't answer me, if you are mod/admin etc, you are busy. But please ask the gaffers, I reckon half the site would like to play you

I've considered it, and if I see more PLO8 regs popping up on the leaderboard over the weekend I may well give it a go myself.

The big issue with it for me is liquidity.

Whatever I could gain in leaderboard prizes would probably be lost by playing fewer tables, earning fewer points etc, so I'm probably just better off sticking to Hold'em - Especially as there's no guarantee that playing PLO8 is automatically going to net a top 3 spot, or that I won't win a prize playing Hold'em.

It's definitely a good strategy for someone who is strong at PLO8 and/or isn't able to just fire up a dozen Hold'em tables at a time though.

Don't bother then mate if it's just to win money, the game is more like a slow burner.
The best win a little, the worst lose a little.

    For fun, it's perfect.

Yeah, PLO8 is good fun for a break from the regular Hold'em grind occasionally.

    +1 to this.

Given how susceptible DYMs are to soft play and collusion, it makes it particularly irritating and uncomfortable when one of the players removed last week is seen back on the tables tonight, yet explanations for them being removed from the promo last week can't be given for reasons out of your control.

I noticed that their location was given as "lol" in the notebox - I'd certainly hope the false 'location' would have been picked up on by anyone looking at the player's account when a decision was made to remove them from the promotion last week.

The "Field Address" - the address you see when you hover your cursor over a players alias at a table - has no relevance or meaning at all. Each player can change that Field Address as many times as they want, whilst seated at a table. The ACTUAL address, as per the Account Details, can only be seen by the Office Staff. Very often the 2 don't match, because as explained above, the Field Address can be altered by a player either for fun or to mask their real address. (There are some real weird ones, such as "MYOB", or "In a Field").

When the Fraud Team investigate a player, they use their REAL addresses.

Note also that it's a common belief that if, say, 2 players share the address (Field or real) of, say, Sheffield, London or Birmingham, that is NOT proof of any wrongdoing, though it CAN be a clue on occasion. It's certainly proves nothing in itself though, it's just circumstantial. It's certainly not uncommon for those who collude or otherwise cheat in some way to have locations which are similar, which rather suggests these lads are not terribly bright.
