If you want to buy Valentine lamb steaks, ask the butcher to sell you a cut of boneless loin of lamb at 150g( 6oz in old money and the recommended portion size for a main meal) and cut them through and open them out so a 150g/6oz meat portion compared to a 70g/3oz portion for more money!
I've just re-read the advert and their strapline says it all...good for small appetites..given the size of the 'steaks' they must supply Lilliputian restaurants!

Of course you are correct.
I intend sending them an email suggesting they should try an offer of a 2 year supply of the biggest steaks in the world, just so people are able to sample their products?

Christmas? Bah humbug
I must admit that my first consideration when it comes to buying food, is not the price.
I see quality as more important.
When going out for a meal, I wouldn't ever be looking for the cheapest restaurant.
I wouldn't necessarily be looking for the most expensive either.
When I go out for a pint, I don't restrict myself to Wetherspoons, just to get 20p off a pint. I drink Stella, not because it is reassuringly expensive, but because it is my favourite lager.
Everyone likes the occasional treat.
I have had 3 orders delivered now, and am really happy with the quality.
The offers are clearly designed to let new customers try a range of their products, without spending a fortune.
This company supplies many restaurants.
The quality of their food is excellent.
Going back to cars, if everyone was interested in the cheapest everything, we would not ever sell a Mercedes, BMW, Bentley, etc, etc, in this country.
If faced with the choice of a really cheap steak that tasted like sh it, or to pay a bit more for a quality steak, I wouldn't have to think about it.

Why are you knocking scouser restaurants?
This might amaze you, but bigger portions, and larger quantities are available.
As a chef I agree that quality is paramount and comes at a cost AND I'm not suggesting its not good quality...
what i'm saying is if you analyse the cost per kilo , even using the most expensive cut of meat, the lamb loin, you can get exceptional British quality meats more locally , coincidentally at a better price and you would support a local economy, that's all..
TBF the portion sizes offered may better suit a certain demographic?
Sorry...just remembered...Given your heritage( and Brexit) I thought you would want to support your local lamb economy and I don't mean sexually...
Less biased when it comes to eating them.
Biased or fussy? Lets be frank, you want a good looking one! See you in Manc, hopefully with the pseudo Cornish, Sheffield, golfing tosspot in tow, eh Jez? (@Misty4me)

Or maybe I wont.
If anyone suggested to me that they could judge the quality of any food, merely by looking at photos, and considering the prices.
I would think they were foolish.
You cant have it both ways.
On the one hand you seem to be saying its too good to be true, on the other you are saying it is expensive.
It cant be both.
