Muder in the Bayou.
Just finished watching this series of true crime and it's worth checking it out. In small town America 8 young women are murdered,the victims are all somehow connected either through drugs,prostitution,crime.The case involves corrupt cops,jailers,sheriffs,crime bosses even a congressman.Residents are afraid to give information to police for fear of reprisals from the authorities.Evidence is buried,information ignored,a general cover up from start to finish to protect those guilty of the crimes.

Many of the people involved in law enforcement in small town America, seem inept and incompetent.
That would seem to apply in this case, in addition to them being corrupt.
